Wikipedia says: "They are about 38–55 kg and 70 to 82 cm. Although much larger dogs do exist which can reach up to 80 kg - most of these "giants" are probably of mixed breed origins and probably not pure."

The breed is a Sarplaninac. There are a couple in Aus: Southern Star Sarplaninac

That dog in the picture is a Kaukaski Ovchar (Caucasian Shepherd) and its name is Vuchka. It's way too big to be a Sarplaninac and the coat is the wrong consistency.

    This is a Sarplaninac ...

that's my OH with a dog called Dante who came to visit.

Saying that neither is a breed you want to mess with.

go to the website ... that dog in the photo is a Kaukaski Ovchar it is not a Sarplaninac. That dog in the photo/video is also a bitch who's name means 'wolf like' in Jugoslav. I can translate the entire website for you if you like

By the way Dante came from Southern Star dogs. There is still under 50 Sarplaninac in Australia AFAIK. We have no Caucasian Shepherds but we do have Central Asian Shepherds and Anatolians/Kangals.

You wont get the same coat when the dogs live in a milder/sheltered climate. In Serbia/Macedonia those dogs live out in the snow and hence grow those massive thick coats.
