    Default Tessa is badly injured

Tessa our happy little hunter, has been injured whilst doing what she loves to do. we are not 100% sure what happened, but somehow she got staked by a tree branch that was downed on out fence and got caught up in the barbed wire fence of the neighbors (top wire).
The large tree branch had come down since we last checked the fence, it might have happened whilst she was there. And the barb, which is usually way to high for the dogs to get involved with and is only on the neighbors fence was low.
Tessa's nose was obviously sending her where she should not be.
We were in the veggie garden and heard her scream........scary too, because it sent Annabelle in a bit of a prey drive frenzy.
Realizing she is still only a managed dog....Settled Annabelle and checked Tessa, did not look too bad. But the next day we found a huge hole and very infected

Been to the vet, it is on her wither, draining huge amounts and we need to clean it at least twice a day. She is in daily injections, I have to give and oral antibiotics which were $98.00 for one course (ouch, 14 tablets).
Vet had thoughts of keeping her there, but if we keep up the cleaning and injections, she can stay home. If it won't heal, she will be in for surgery

She is so good, allowing us to do everything, she hates because it is painful.....Katy is trying to help. And Annabelle has settled and also trying to help too.........

Her wither is a mess........One large puncture from a branch and some small ones

I can imagine with all that hair it would be easy to miss somthing like this at the begining. I guess you would have to shave the area ? Stitches ? Poor Tessa

Hope she comes good soon and avoids surgery. I dont like hearing about giants having to be put under...freaks me a little. Here's hoping you dont have to go down that path. Fingers and paws crossed for a speedy recovery. Good luck.

Thank you guys......when i first heard the scream I thought SNAKE......So we were actually a little relived when she was just tangled up with the fence and tree. Even though this is bad, I prefer it to snake bite.......

This will be her first Tuesday not going to training, she loves training, especially Rally Obedience

Newfsie... So sad to read your bad news.

Cyberhugs for all the Newfsie gang, and a special one for Tessa.
