    Default Pugs??

My brother is looking at buying a pug puppy later this year, as a family of Labrador lovers we've only ever had labs in the past so I was hoping to get some info from you guys on the pug to pass on to my bro, temperament, history on the breed, inside or outside? Etc..also if anyone knows any good breeders in NSW that would be great )

Pugs are awesome little dogs. One little thing I've learned is that fawns are generally a bit more laid back than blacks, who can tend to be the more active livewires in the breed.

Most definitely should be a mostly indoor dog, they can have difficulty in maintaining bady temps in warm conditions.

My personal recommendation in pugs is find a breeder that shows theirs, or is recommended by a breeder who shows. Even if you never want to go near a dog show.

I say this as I have had a rescue pug that needed corrective surgery to her nostrils to resolve serious breathing issues. She came from a registered breeder... But that breeder never showed any dogs, just produced litter after litter... a registered puppy farmer really, no regard for health and soundness.

For breeders I would look on Dogzonline, here to start with. The kennel at the top of the list -Kabova- are folks I know of from showing and seem very dedicated to the breed. So maybe a good starting point for info etc.

definitely my fav of the little dogs, great personality...I have met quite a few Quom dogs, also on the list Natty gave you. They do shed a lot, but seeing as you are used to Yellow labs, probably not relevant

    Ok great! Thanks guys
yeah my brother lives in an apartment/ villa type house with a small courtyard..So the pug would likely live inside and be excercized regularly although I've heard they can't be walked too much either they don't like it much or for physical reasons, is this true? I think he's worried about not having a backyard as such but from what I've read they rather prefer to be inside is this right?.

    My pug never barked.
They have the best personalities and make most people laugh all day... little clowns they are.

They do shed more than any other breed I know of though.

We had a very yappy pug living next doors to us once. But the owners didn't seem to have much of an idea about dogs. He was also lead aggressive.

The pugs I've met on walks were always delightful. I do prefer the look of the black ones. They just make me go 'awwww'.

I have also heard that they are a great little indoor dog......but be prepared for lots & lots of hair. It would be recommended for your brother to invest in a good vacumn cleaner before getting his Pug, if he doesn't already have one.

Do they shed more than Labradors do you think?
