Default Katy-Bear pulling in our Canoe

We have been plodding along doing our lonely Water Rescue training........We have some friends who are interested now. Well one

Anyway, I have been working on Katy and pulling in items.......Yesterday, our Saturday she was amazing.....She pulled in our canoe with Mike and our friend Renee for a long distance and beached it. She did this happily twice. She also pulled in the Buoy (Life-ring) several times, with us and just it, she beaches everything....All the way onto land. We were at the lake for four hours...the dogs slept so well after that.......Her "take it" is not as good yet....She will bring everything to me, but not as happily to others. I am trying to train the people to be exited when she gets there, but they just seem so flat. I need exiting when we train

Annabelle sat in the canoe She loved it......Great idea. I am hoping to train Katy now, she is so large, that it will take some doing.

We only put her life vest on when it got a little choppy at the end of the day.
My friend is having trouble down loading her pictures...So so far she has only sent me this one . but she has promised more. next week I will take my little camera

    Awsome !!!

Your dogs continue to amaze me. You have done such a wonderful job with them.
I'm considering buying Mojo a life vest soon as he's starting to tag along on our camping trips wich usually invole Boats, Kayaks etc. What sort do you use Newfsie and is there anything to look out for in particular. Ive seen human ones like a PFD 3 used (similar to a jet skier type) or would a dedicated doggy one be the go ?

A dedicated dog one is best...we are wearing the giant ones and i am sure you will too tessa has her own smaller version. Our present ones are Sierra Dog Supply ones form the USA....I am getting some proper search and Rescue ones for Katy and Annabelle....they have people hold handles on them and give more buoyancy for when they have to tow heavy people in. We are training our dogs to go off boats.......Swim to the person with a life buoy and tow them to land........We will always swim with our dogs, I do not believe the dogs should be alone with the person they go to rescue. That is what they do in the Water dog tests, But the prper rescue people (as in Italy) stay with their dogs, always

    Dog Life Jackets from Waggle.com.au

I would like to have the red ruff wear one too.........if i cannot get the ones I really want form search and rescue

    So very cool!

So if the handler stays with the dog, do they use the dogs mainly because they are stronger?

Yes....Katy can pull a person/buoy/canoe for great distances. Will let her go by herself for a boat or a drop-off, but if a person was in distress, I would feel she was in danger from the person by herself (grabbing and such).

Attached are my friend Bettina and her dog Vera in Italy during Rescue training..........vera jumps out of helicopters with her Handler Betttina. She is my Mentor via e-mail
Bettina was with her dogs on Extraordinary dogs...the show that showed on Prime
