Exclamation Can anyone help me figure out the breed of my dog!?!?!

Hi guys! i was just wondering if anyone here can help me and tell me what they see when they look at my dog. I know that she is part Staffy but i cant figure out what else is in her. I plan on getting her DNA tested but would just like to know what you guys think?? My partner bought her for me as a present in april this year from an old lady who was selling her sons puppies.... it all seemed a bit dodgy as we could only see one very bad picture of the mum but we fell inlove with abbey and took her home, no hesitations. I love my little girl very much so anyone who is going to say "who cares if you love her it shouldnt matter what breed she is" IT DOESNT! i would never change my little girl i am just very curious and worred about pitbull regulations ect if she is part pitty.... I live in western australia and have tried looking for the regulations but with no success so if anyone could help me in that catogory aswell it would be much appreciated She is 9 months old is the latest photos and is bigger then my sister in laws female husky! she is extreamly tall for a staffy and iv been told her ears and shape of her face is all wrong for a staffy. The lady he bought her off called her an "Australian staffy" but we know theres no such thing so if anyone could tell me what they think it would be much appreciated!!! Thanks guys!

Definitely Staffy indeed. Can't really see any pitty in her. I can't guess what else she could be. Could be lots of things. But clearly the Staffy genes are dominant here.

I have a crossbred dog that I cannot guess the breeds of. I got as far as kelpie and then I really didn't know. When I posed the question here I think we got to 9 different breeds that she could possibly be mixed with! I was so curious to find out too. But then I got used to the idea that I will never know. And when someone now asks me, I just say "She's rescue special of the week" or "a mystery mix" or something like that.

I thought of the DNA test. But then I did some reading up on it and they are only accurate if the dog's parents were purebred dogs. If they were mixes too, those tests are pretty useless. That was my conclusion after what I read anyway.

ETA: And your dog is adorable. I love, love, love that 5th photo.

Maybe some bull arab mixed in there lol thats all I can think of... and some staffy too maybe! She sure is cute though... and Australian Staffy hehe I wonder how many she fooled with that.

To me she doesn't really look like a Pit Bull though so you should be fine in that regard. For the laws regarding restricted breeds in WA, you will need to look at your local councils website which should have the information you need.

ETA: check out this video on DNA testing, I found the results it rather interesting.

Your dog looks a lot like mine apart from the colour. I think mine is cattle dog x (border collie x kelpie) but that's just a guess. Mine also looks a lot like the cattle dog x bull arab in "Sally's Whelping forum" http://www.dogforum.com.au/my-dog-st...ing-forum.html

So my guess is we both have "desert bitsas" ie the proto dogs that come from fairly random breeding in hot dry places.

If you're really worried about people misidentifying her breed try lab x kelpie. Or even ridgeback x kelpie. Some ridgebacks don't have ridges and do have brindle. Or greyhound x labrador. There's loads of short coated dogs that give you that skull shape without being staffy x.

And the place where they've gone bonkers when it comes to staffy x - is Victoria, not WA. But given how irrational the whole deal is, here's hoping WA follows the QLD lead and goes for throwing the book at the owner, not dogs that have done absolutely nothing wrong except look a bit scary.

If you think about DNA testing primarily to satisfy your curiosity - don't bother . We have tested our Lab X Kelpie X Rottie (according to breeder) and voila... let me introduce you to our Lab X Pomeranian
