    Default Dog fight :(

On saturday arvo we were at my o/h parents house who have 2 dogs, we had our 2 puppies there also.
They have always got along but today something was not right and his parents poodle cornered our bullmastiff and started having a go at him and biting the scruff of his neck. Diesel could not get out and in turn pinned him down with his mouth.
We pulled them apart and noticed his tooth had cut the poodle and he was also limping.
The poodle is an old dog with arthritis so we were worried he was limping. the cut was tiny and we werent even worried about it... We took him off the the 24 hr vet and boy were we in for a shock he had internal bleeding and needed to be rushed into surgery
I cannot believe this had happened from the tiny little cut i was so angry at Diesel but i know it wasn;t his fault he was only defending himself
I also feel horrible as the vet bill was huge!! over $1500!! Now everybody thinks Diesel is a viscous dog
Sorry just needed to get it off my chest!

Sorry to read that, yep small puncture hole but the damage is done underneath out of site, the anatomy of a dogs bite and elastic skin.

Thats a bit of a bugger alright but its only natural for dogs to sort each other out in a situation like that if humans dont intervene quick enough. I feel sorry for the poodle and Diesel as he dosnt deserve a bad rep over one incident. Methinks the poodle wont try that again.

We have got friends, sorry that a real stupid statment as we all do.
I should say friends of ours have got 2 dogs one is around the 5 to 7 year old while the other is about a year now.
When they bought the new one into the house all was sweet.
Then as my mate said something just changed.
He said they would just look at each other in a way and it was on.
I thought this was like a dominace thing as the young one doing its best to push the boundries.

But he then said it had stopped and he was so happy.
How wrong was he as it only went into recess for a week or 2 and now they are close enough to thinking that one might have to go.
I really feel for them as they are so good with their pets.
I hope they work out what to do with theirs.

i too dont think older dog will try it again! They've been seeing each other for 17 months every week atleast and the poodle tells him off every now and then but they always got along but this time he trapped diesel in and i think diesel felt threatened so he fought back. it all happened in an instant as we were sitting not even a metre from him and had them apart in seconds... just not quick enough
