I was walking Lady just a couple of weeks ago at 2 in the afternoon and a fox ran out in front of us. Lades chased it but it was too agile, even for a Kelpie, and ducked under a fence and was gone.
At night if we hear the chooks/ducks going of their head we let the dogs out and they run down the back and after a few barks from the dogs the chooks/ducks settle down so its a good assumption that the foxes would much prefer to flight then fight.
