It's not the blue clour, it's the skin pigmentation that goes along with it. Blue staffords are fine with a black pigmentation (black nose, black skin, black paw pads etc) but 90 something percent are dilute, so born with pink or other pigmentation therefore are not of show/breeding quality. They *can* still be taken into the show ring, but what Natty was saying is they would have to be 100% perfect in every other way to be able to get anywhere in the ring.

I don't know if that makes any sense? Weims are a completely different breed, therefore different rules apply.

ETA: You wouldn't expect a German Shepherd to have the same show requirements as a chihuahua for example....

there will be an epidemic in the future with all the blue staffords around, it will be skin condition after skin condition......... problem after problem etc.... jsut have a look on DOL at how many people only breed blues...... its a cash cow.......

There's some good links here - including some on this forum, and there's some more dodgy breeders too.

    I googled
mange in blue staffies from queensland

I don't want to sound stupid but I went to the first 20 or so staffy breeders on the previously listed google link and didn't see one with non-black nose or skin etc. I also haven't seen one in the flesh with this problem. Are there lots of blue staffords that get culled due to the blue*blue mating and therefor dilute-condition of pink skin etc? Or in other words - where are these dogs and can someonme post a photo?

Are you sure they were black pigmented?

Here's an example of a pup with blue pigment instead of the allowed black.

Different breeds = different genes.... I thought that was obvious???

I don't know your dog Angel - blue pigmentation on the skin looks a lot like black AFAIK.

This person also sells Bernese Mountain dogs and maremma's. I think every breed has people like this and they often are still members of the canine bodies/clubs of their breed.
I am afraid it is up to the purchaser to be very careful as to where they buy from, there are no guarantees. The dog breeding world has many dodgy people in it. And just because they are registered does not mean that they are not.
And you will be pushing sh.. uphill trying to stop them. The many good newfie Breeders have tried to stop this particular man with no luck. He has even managed to stop us from naming him.....Go figure
Who is this breeder of Newfs please Newfsie? Haven't heard of one that also sells Bernese and Maremma's.....only the one that was selling Amstaffs, Leonbergers, Chesapeakes and labradors as well as Newfs. Would like to be able to tell the Vic Newfy folks about this new one if you could please send me a message....
