    Default Jack Russles and Ratting

This just came to me while I was sitting here and I wondered if we have anything close to it.
I see it on tele and it was from Britain.
They have a heap of man made tunnels that intersect each other and they go a good distance. The have openings right the way through them and and in an end they have a largish space where they place a rat in a box placed there so the Jacks can scent it out.
It was so interesting to see this happen and some found the rat while others came out at the wrong exits.
    But it was interesting.

Someone posted about that here a while back. The sport has a name and I remember Googling it, but I have the memory of a goldfish.

There's "earth dog" where dogs go in tunnels

There's also "Tracking" where they follow a trail laid out cross country which may or may not involve a tunnel or going under something.

Any dog that likes to sniff - loves these sports.

I think when Murphy is an adult I wouldn't mind doing some sort of tracking with him as he has a real good nose.
The Jack Russle thing is what I would go to watch if it was close to home.

You would be able to start laying the basics for tracking with Murphy now if you are inclined to do so If you're interested just let me know & I give you the links to a lot of information on getting started.

Ooo Im interested can I please have those links? Sometimes when I take Kaida for a walk all I hear is this 'hoover' sound as she's so focussed on the trail. Very entertaining

    I am with Lexie44light.
Murphy has his nose to the ground while training.
But when I have him I stop it but he persist in doing it even after correction.
so to put something into place so it makes it all worth while would be good.
And I have only even seen it done but have no idea on how to get it all going in the right direction, so all the help would be good.
