Default My Dog Needs a Friend

Hello, we have a little Westie X Jack Russel, he is only 7 months old and his name is Dougall. He loves playing with other dogs and although we walk him daily and give him interesting toys, he gets a bit bored and lonely when we are at work.

At this stage we dont want to get another dog, but we would like a friend for Dougall. We are hoping to find someone with a little friend for Dougall to come and play one or two days a week while we are at work.

We have a decent size backyard for them to run around and we live on the cusp of Leederville/ Mt Hawthorn. If you are interested please email me at trenchie@gmail.com

    Thanks.

I am not near you but doggy playdates are a fantastic idea, I hope you can find someone who will be willing to do it.

So that would be in Perth WA somewhere?

Might be helpful to put a notice with your request up at your local vets - and then you can be sure you're getting play dates with dogs that are vaccinated etc.

It may also be helpful to meet the new dog on neutral territory initially - just to see if they like each other. My dog gets a bit offended if some other dog comes into her territory without being introduced first. She's fine other places.

I agree with Hyacinth on this,
So you do have a few more steps in getting a playmate.
I remember our little cross Westie, she was bossy to the extent that I had to save her from the Heeler, as she would never take a backwards step.
So the right dog must be picked real carefully.

I really should have written - most of Frosty's best play mates I met at dog club. Ie find an obedience dog club in your area, and join up. It's a great way to meet people who really care about their dogs and doing the right thing by them. And it's also great for finding dogs that your dog likes. ie doggy friends.
