Default Quite Surprised and Pleased at My Good Dogs

So work is going on in the back yard of our place. At the moment we do not have a gate at all.

I told the OH that Pippi was not to be taken out the back without a lead because she is a naughty little so and so.

Barney is not so much of an issue because he does what he is told.

Anyway, they have both really surprised me. Barney wont even step past the line where the gate should be. he will walk up and stand there but the gate may as well still be there. Even wehn the OH walked up the drive way last night Barney stopped at the gate (which is funny considering if the gate is there and you are walking through it hes in a big rush to get out with you).

Pippi has surprised me the most. Her recall has improved muchly as she has got older, but she is quite an independant, smart wee thing and if she isnt directly benefitting from something then she wont do it. Well we havent been putting her lead on and she ust stays where she is allowed. The first day she trotted out past the gate area and the OH said her name and she spun round and ran back right away and now she ust isnt going over there. Shocking o me considering when there is a gate she is always looking for a way out...maybe its not exciting to her now she CAN get otu LOL.

Anyway, ust thought I wouold share coz I am bored and because I like it when you expect a certain behaviour and your dogs please you in a really good way.

We even had dogs walking past today and there was no bolting up the drive!

    Very pleased

Well done to those two! I love it too when my dog behaves better than expected.

Some of the proudest moments of my life where when I managed to recall my dog when we surprised a kangaroo sitting only metres away. Once that happened when we walked out of a friend's front door and there was a kangaroo sitting on the street, right in front of the driveway! There was no way I'd expected my dog to come when I called her then, but she did without hesitating.

Its nice eh...usually mine (especially Pippi) are naughty and I fully expected them to be racing up the driveway and down the road LOL
