    Talking Just Wondering

    Hi all,
A quick question! Can you breed from a female that had had mange as a pup???
I've been told conflicting stories just wondering if anyone knows??
    Thanks

How long have you had her now for? Have you called her breeders to say whats the hold up on her papers , if not , do that straight away.

Or maybe the Breeder does not want the bitch bred?

As to the mange thing, it is fine when it is cleared and treated.......

My breeder waited till all the litter was sold and payed for so all the paper work could be done and sent away once. One buyer stuffed her around in the end so we ended up waiting about 3 weeks for our papers.

Vets will nearly always tell you not to breed from a dog/bitch that has had Demodectic mange - end of story.

Personally as long as it was only very mild & a once only occurrence and during the puppy stage it is caused by stress and not a hereditary component. All dogs have it but when the immune system goes under stress their body doesn't cope with it and it flares.

However I would inquire if any of it's relatives have had mange and if so at what age. If relatives of the dog/bitch had had a case of mange then I wouldn't breed.
