Default Dogs Paws & Hot Beach Sand

I am going to be taking Bella to the beach soon for a play date with another staffy.

I am a little worried that the hot sand will burn her paws, am I being silly or can it happen?

tias paws get hot when she walks on tarmac, sand seems to be fine as she goes for a paddle in the surf

They could if it's a blistering hot day, I know I had to hop on alternate feet as fast as I could to get to the low tide mark a few times. Was hot hot hot on the feet.

I know some people with working herders do use shoes on the dogs feet to stop pads being sliced up over stony ground and getting burrs etc, I would think hot sand might get trapped in it as the dogs feet sink into the soft sand as they are like open toe sandals.

Mojo couldnt handle his paws sinking in the sand. I think he thought it was going to swallow him whole. I guess the sand could burn a bit but dogs can run faster than us so she might bolt for the water. Those sandals might chaffe a bit and the other dogs will laugh at her !

A dog's pads are far tougher then your feet. She'll be fine.

She will be the laughing stock of all the dogs at the beach!

And I agree, the sand would get trapped in them and it would probably annoy her more than walking on the sand barefoot.

I never noticed my old dog finding the sand too hot. And if it is, they can just sprint to the wet sand. That's what I do!

I was more thinking about the soft webbing flesh between the toes when feet sink into scorching sand than actual pads of the paw. Those dog sandals have holes in them.

If the dog hops about on the dry i'd get her down to the hard tidal sand quick.
