    Default Music for Dogs

I was browsing Amazon for books on dogs and dog training (one of my favourite passtimes!) and discovered that they sell CDs for dogs! I read some of the reviews and this one Amazon.com: Through a Dog's Ear: Using Sound to Improve the Health & Behavior of Your Canine Companion (9781591798118): Joshua Leeds, Susan Wagner: Books in particular attracted lots of comments about the music calming mildly anxious dogs down. There seemed to be consensus about it not working when dogs get very anxious in situations like thunderstorms or car rides.

It was just the incredibly cute picture that attracted me to it though.

Then I looked at the reviews for another one and had to laugh when some reviewers were questioning how the sound of children in a playground was supposed to calm their dog. I agree, my dog would probably start running around like a lunatic too to find out where all the nice little children that want to play with her are hiding.

So, do you play music to your dog?

I always put the radio on when i leave my two home alone. If their outside i turn it up and leave the glass door open so they can hear it.

I don't really have any particular reason for doing it..they're don't have separation anxiety or anything i just think it's nice for them to have some background noise. It's just a routine now. My mum used to do the same for her dogs when i lived at home.

Frosty doesn't like it when I sing along in the car. But neither do the people in the next car over.
