Reading *most* of this thread, its the PRO breed people that jump in first defending breeds, "prove it prove it prove it"...

I think this thread was just posted as it was a situation that involved the species we are all here to talk about- DOGS.

Nothing about breed specific ANYTHING. I am PRO every breed so i dont feel the need to bring up the breeds involved, only when creating a "picture" of the scenario.

    ........

Point of the matter is, this INDIVIDUAL dog needs better socialization. thats it. not all staffies, and not all poodles need to stop EYEBALLING.

Agree dan4nas. Nothing to do with breed at all. And I think it's a shame it was brought up because the article provided an opportunity to talk about responsible ownership and where you draw the line with letting dogs be dogs. Alas...

Herein lies the problem i have with some of the PRO breed people, they brought the breed up and instead of condemning the owner allowing the dog to be out of thier control they immeadiately went on to cast doubt on breed, blame the victims dog, minimalise the damage and list "possibilities and scenario's", first prioity in thier eyes was to clear the breeds name.
In doing so you overlooked an irresponsible owner who should have been the focus of this post NOT THE BREED. Some of you guys are your own worst enemies.

(for those of us with real life experience with dogs of any breed) that it was a mere scrap

Couldnt agree more however whether we like it or not, not all owners share that experience and would possibly be terrified of what was going on and its not fair on them.

I agree with you (wow! ) that it was counterproductive to bring the breed into it. Though the pro BSL poster/s do that all the time in my experience.

But if both sides are now consistently going to do it, it really has gotten out of hand.

Definitely not fair at all. Hell even I'd be fuming if another dog scrapped with mine. I wouldn't be running to the papers though! I mean seriously, what's next? Are they going to start writing about every arguement a kid has with another on a playground?

BTW, it was the anti breed people who brought the breed into it. Most of us have said the breed doesn't matter....

How about you read back through my posts. My first post clearly states that it must have been a terrible experience for the family and for the dog, that is the first thing I SAID! My first 2 posts say nothing about the breed of dogs except to use them to talk about the story. And I only briefly mention in my 3rd post anything about the breed maybe not being correct.
I also did say the dog should not have been and certainly should not be off lead again.
Jeez I was trying to have a discussion about what possibly happened and everyone was fine with my posts prior to you jumping in and having a go at me, YOU turned this thread into what it is now.
And it was not my first priority to clear the breeds name otherwise it would have been the first thing I posted about but it wasn't. I have said already several times the breeds don't really matter except in the context of if the Staffy was serious the Poodle would be seriously injured.
You are only seeing what you want to see in my posts and disregarding parts of them because you dislike my stance and because of certain other threads in this forum, you wanted to attack me and you found a reason to.

I brought the breed into it because it shits me that they speculate what it is with out knowing for sure.

I have seen plenty of dog scraps before between dogs that could kill each other (if that was the reason for the disagreement). I have never seen my two in a scrap (I don't put them in a position for it to ever happen), but if it did happen I would be horrified.

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.
