clubsprint has a point. where do we draw a line? why laugh that someone's PET duck got killed? doesn't that duck have as much right to live as anyone? i mean that duck could have mean't the world to someone.
There have been plenty of dogs PTS because they killed a neighbours cat etc. I don't think your dog should kill anything without your permission, but of course you can't really help most of the accidents that occur, my dogs have killed plenty of birds and mice in their time but I have always made sure that they have no way to get away from my property and get themselves in trouble, like finding the neighbours ducks, or chickens, or batch of new kittens .... hmm i think that rhymed

... ok I amd babbling now

Clubsprint doesn't have a point. Clubsprint is suggesting that the judge judy duck incident suggests that a ban on pitbulls would have prevented this. I think that is wrong.

I don't think any of us think it's ok to let a dog in with a bunch of ducks unsupervised. It's insulting to suggest we think it's ok that the ducks got killed. It isn't. And the death of the ducks is nothing to do with the breed of the dog. Most dogs of any dog breed would give the ducks a hard time. And some - of any breed - would kill the ducks.

Suggesting the ducks would be safe if there were no pitbulls is where things get crazy here.

If that daughter let their labradoodle in with the ducks the same thing would have happened. Here - its a natural thing for dogs to do, chase birds. And it's up to the owners of the dog to train the dog to leave birds (or cows or whatever) alone and train their children to keep the gates properly shut or make sure they cannot open the gate.

Actually he never said anything like this, he simply stated that because a pitbull was involved it was topical to what has been overcrowding the forum lately.

There has been NO suggestion in this thread ANYWHERE that ducks would be safer without pitbulls. Actually as I re read there has been no talk about the breed at all. In my opinion, and I may be wrong, Clubsprint was simply trying to begin a discussion. Everyone has to accept that he is in the minority here. Instead of insulting and degrading his opinion is it not our duty to calmly explain to him that other people view things a different way? that other people have different opinions on everything?

From what I have seen lately from this forum though I think everyone needs a reminder of that as well.

You have just said why this thread should never have been started. This forum is overcrowded with threads about PB's. If it was topical to those threads why not just talk about it in one of those threads rather than starting a whole new thread about it.......

If clubsprint wasn't having a go at pitbulls, then there would be no need to mention the breed in this quote.

Aggrieved parties pet ducks were attacked on thier own property by neighbors Pitbull. Pitbull owners didn't believe they were responsible. "My daughter ACCIDENTALLY let them out". Quote "Those ducks are known to be aggressive". Judge Judy was not impressed.
Everything clubsprint has written has been about getting rid of pitbulls - ignoring the fact that many other breeds of dogs would do the exact same thing and it all comes down to training and management by the owners.

Actually I was asked what was on the show. This was my response and was an accurate portrayal of what happened. If I wanted to throw petrol on the flames I would have posted what Judy said about this. Ithought this was topical because the "case" was about, well you can see what it was about. If the neighbor had had Kelpies, or ACDs or whatever is used in the US as working dogs probably would have killed the pet ducks.
    Here's my thread starting post

Then reyzor seized on this and tries to get some mileage out of it. Was probably his thought when he asked "dont have a tv at work...... explain?["

    You make my point, clubsprint.

You would not have mentioned the show if the duck attack was by kelpies.
