    Unhappy Sad Puppy Dog :(

    Hi everyone,

My stepbrother moved in with us at the beginning of this year, and he brought his 1yo Boxer Saxon with him.

Suddenly, my 30yo stepbrother has run off to live with his 19yo gf in Melbourne

Poor Saxon is looking so sad and sorry for himself since his Dad has been gone. I try to cheer him up and play with him and give him cuddles, but he just sits there and looks at me with his big brown eyes, and they look so sad it just breaks my heart

What can I do to cheer him up and let him know that I love him just as much as my stepbrother did!? I have been trying since my stepbrother left which was last weekend. He just sits there and stares at me, he is hardly wagging his tail, and he isn't joining in when the other dogs are playing. He is usually so energetic and playful and is always wagging his tail.

This is breaking my heart to see him so sad

    Hi ally,

I'm not sure....he's upset, and missing his dad...It's great what you're doing and that you're taking care of him and trying to cheer him up. I think that he just needs time...poor thing ! My girls visit my mum every second day and whenever I go away, they stay at my mums...when they do - Lola is fine. Misi however gets all down and doesn't eat for 2 days, by day 3 she's fine. She loves my mum and mum loves them but it's just not the same as being home with mum and dad...

    Poor boy.

Time together, yes. And be patient. His little heart is probably a bit broken.

Hey everyone just an update; I took Saxon for a nice long walk last night without the other dogs (I took them this morning instead) and he was amazing! He was such a good boy, but he was having such a ball! Continuously wagging his tail and marking his territory at every possible place, and he learns so quickly too, as soon as I stopped at a road to wait for cars, I barely even finished saying 'Sit' and he sat down and looked up at me, tail wagging madly! Once I got him home I sat down and had a cuddle with him, and he seems a lot happier already!

And he did something this morning which he has never done before, he was actually crying when I left to go to work I didn't want to leave after that!

    Hi ally,
i have read the conversation so far and i am very pleased that saxon is warming up to you and feeling more cheery
we got my puppy in october and then went on our new years eve holiday to phillip island for 4 days and he was histerical when we got back. apparently he was crying and what not.
I hope over time Saxon feels like his part of your family and loves you just as much as he loved his daddy

Thanks everyone We had a bonfire over the weekend, and he sat by me the whole night and curled up in his little bed with his head on my knee. Very cute, and he is looking a lot happier! He is even putting on weight, which is excellent!
