    Smile Dog Coats

    Hi Everyone

I have been trying to find some quality dog coats for my Staffy Jay and have come across a website while doing a search on Google. The website is Home. Has anyone brought any coats from this website. The coats look great, apparently they are Australian made and of really good quality. They have some other accessories like beds and collars and lots of other stuff for dogs.

We gave up on coats for our dogs once they ripped them off each other and were wearing them like capes instead

However, it's worth a try! I have never bought off a website, I am too impatient to wait for things so I prefer to buy instore

    Hi
I've bought a similar coat for my Staffy and it was not a very good fit. I've found it hard to find one to fit a staffy because of their big neck and chest. Wasted alot of money too. My girl gets sooo cold in winter. I ended up getting her a hoody from a 'pet stock ' store i'm not sure if they're Australia wide but you can bring your dog in and try them on. It's a 'Wag-Wear' brand... I've also seen good ones on ebay, be specific in your search though eg. Staffy coat. If you buy on line go for stuff that is actually modelled by a Staffy - they're such a unique shape...

I was worried about the sizing as my Staffie too has a really big neck and deep chest, apparently though they do custom made sizing. I am going to order one though. I'll let you know how I go.

I like weatherbeata's - I have Landas for the really cold weather and kennel rugs for normal cold.

I just chucked the dogs coats on now

It's around 10 degrees and possibly colder in the house as I had doors open til recently - strong winds. Cappy and Billie had had their kennel rugs chucked on - Cappy was starting to look very stiff and this will warm up his joints and Billie doesn't have much of a coat after the groomer burned her back with the dryer so I am cautious (also extremely pissed off) and Flash has a blanket draped on him as I dont have another kennel rug and it is nowhere near cold enough for a Landa.

It will get to minus one next week and they will be wearing Landa's inside as I have no heating.

I go by me - right now I am fine with my doona and a minky - when it gets cold enough for me to take the heavy minky out it will be Landa time. Atm - my hands are cold thus I assume the beasts are feeling it. Cappy isn't asking for his coat off - he will if he is too hot - indeed he has gone over and curled up to sleep.

Once their winter coats come in I will be less eager to put coats on them - especially during the day but we have hit a cold snap - 10-12 degrees max for the next few days with high winds. So only one door open and I must clean billies bed as it is a warm one. and consider buying a warm one to replace the one she and toby - friends dog - demolished lol

Flash has a couch but in the colder weather he prefers my 2 seater

Lots of hot wind about nothing in this post - some people will be wholly against coats - I am all for them - they are not a fashion item, they are for survival. Mine are gsds so I would call them medium coated dogs - or barely coated after the groomers.

Anything with a staffy coat should be wearing a coat in this weather IMO

Hi me again (hope you see this occy!)
So my puppy maleesex poodle (who ended up with about half the hair of both) iyo would need a coat? She sleeps outside and has a kennel.
We live in adelaide so not too cold at the moment about 18 during the day.
I feel bad as I would like her to be a inside dog (long storey bad dog!!) so I worry!

I haven't seen these ones so don't know sorry.

There is a Australian lady on ebay who makes polar fleece dog pyjamas, can make them to order/measure ad does make specific Staffy ones. Her brand is Kickatinalong, but I find her by doing and ebay search in the dog section for "pyjamas". They are super warm, and don't come off as easy as some coats.

Link to one of the Staffy sized ones: Staffordshire Bull Terrier - Dog coat Pyjamas - eBay Other Supplies, Dogs, Pet Supplies, Home. (end time 21-May-09 16:08:28 AEST)

They also have no string bits around the legs which are always a worry for getting caught or tangled.
