Staffy's are AWESOME ... BUT .. are not a breed suited to an inexperienced owner. They require an experienced handler and lots of training and exercise. Also, a staffy pup will chew everything in site, i lost a keyboard(chewed the cable hanging down below the desk), every single sprinkler head around the garden, slippers, shoes etc. They do grow out of it and can be controlled by lots of exercise, but it takes time and losses lol.

Just from what you've said so far, i wouldn't recommend a staffy for you.

yep at least it was the same advice lol. I am thinking a corgi with all the info the OP has given would be a great idea for a breed.

The Miniature Pinscher is a hardy little fellow, who is proud, and courageous. They are loyal to their masters, spirited and alert, with high energy. Intelligent, lively and brave. Generally good with other pets and children so long as the humans provide proper leadership towards the dog. Their behavior depends entirely upon how you treat the dog

    Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm keen on a staffy, I hear they're good for fishing companions too.

I'm willing to do anything to ensure it has a great life and is brought up the best i possibly can

Really, pretty much any breed of dog would appreciate being taken fishing.
