    Default Do Dogs Remember Stuff?

I know they do but you'll see what I mean.

We are in the process of packing for our move so the house is full of boxes etc.

This is Pippi's first "move" and she seems completely clueless as to what is going on.

However, it is Barney's 4th move. Normally it's not a concern for him. Though the last time there were boxes in the house, he was left behind for 3 months in NZ.

This time round, he is being very subdued and I am wondering whether he is remembering that the last time the boxes were here he was left behind.

I dunno fi their memories are that specific, but normally he is fine when the boxes are round but honestly, he is being very quiet and not his normal boisterous, annoying, in your face self.

Definitly and by association of the boxes he is probably getting a bit worried.

I wouldn't make a fuss over it though.

I don't make a fuss over it which is why he is not usually concerned about moving.

I just find it weird that he seems to be this time and I wonder if instead of remembering the previous moves where he came along, he is focussing on the one move where he didnt

    I definitely think so!

I don't think they know whats going on, but they can associate this happening with the feeling of loneliness (In your case) or fear etc

We used to pack up the car every second weekend and go stay at nan and pops place. Sometimes Tessa would come sometimes she wouldn't. After a few trips she would see us packing and get in the car. She would not move from her spot on the back seat until we reached nan and pops place. If we tried to kick her out she would growl and defend her place in the car

Could be, maybe he just doesn't want to move and is sort of sulking.

My dogs knew when I was going away for work due to my preparations and would mope about for a week before hand.

My last dog, Shadow would walk 3km to my FIL's farm when he saw hubby and I both getting into the car with suitcases or both went away towing the boat.
We had no need of pens or fencing as he never usually left the house area.

He would have been checked on daily and fed by my FIL but went over there for the company.

We then started to drop him at the gate so he wouldn't get skittled by a car and notified FIL that he was on his way.
