Have you tried letting the shopping centre management know you think the pet shop pongs and is a health hazard?

Can you get your stuff online instead? Bowhouse recommends avoiding Innova dog food because it's sold exclusively by the puppy mill pet shops. And they make several alternate suggestions. I've dealt with a few online shops (not bowhouse yet) and it seems good to me.

Our town is pretty well serviced. My two favourite suppliers of things like roo jerky are a long way from my home, but there is another fairly close to my dog club, and another next door to my fav local bakery. Hard to avoid - except I usually spend all my available case in the bakery. Caters particularliy to the little old ladies who like to share their bikkies with their SWF. Was a grooming shop also for a while. And their stuff is (to me) shockingly expensive. Until I found out how much optimum kitten biscuits are per kg.

Fritz sausage is cheaper and works better, sigh. Even roast chicken is cheaper.

Maybe it's time to open up a supplies shop, CL.

Actually the weirdest thing I saw at a Pets Paradise the other day was two mature cats and a sign saying that store is working with Sydney Dog and cats home to rehome. I nearly fell over in shock. Still doesn’t make them any better for stocking puppy farm animals. This one isn’t one I have been to before.

The one nearest my house always has cats there for weeks and weeks. I almost brought a Persian because his fur was so matted and I had seen him there week after week. But when they said they wanted 1000 for him (after being there for weeks and being bigger than all the other kittens I laughed and walked out).

The other pet store near me is just as bad with pricing. It is some no name pet store. They had the most scrawny sick looking Chihuahua for 1200. You can get a papered dog for that much – why would you buy a sick one?

Michelle - both those shops should be reported to the RSPCA.

Shipping to Tassie costs nearly as much as the food itself unfortunately. Mum used to get Eagle Pack shipped in years ago.
We have 5 pet stores within a 200km radius. No supply only stores, would love to open one myself one day along with a grooming parlor but at the moment it's just a pipe dream.

I haven't seen any animals in bad condition here, most are from BYB's who don't want to pay to advertise in the newspaper.

    What about these guys
Online pet supplies at Petz Central

They charge about the same for a big bag of Holistic Select anchovy as the Sydney shop (bowhouse.com.au), and shipping to Launceston is $7

Bow house has $30 on the shipping. The dog food for both is about $120.

I've got no idea if either deliver as promised but petzcentral is in Tas. Don't know if they sell critters either. Not obvious on their website if they do.
