    Default Vets Happy with RAW Diets

    Hi All
    I have recently got a lab puppy who was recommended raw diet by the breeder. The breeder has good experience in this since 1980s and I am keen to follow her advice. The issue is that the vet place we attend for puppy preschool is pushing 'balanced' diet of dry food.
    Can someone recommend a vet who is happy with raw/BARF.

    At the moment my puppy has a healthy weight ans is on 2 meals/day comprising of
    chicken necks/chicken wing tips/ whole egg w shell/lamb flaps/sardines/plain youghurt/fruit and veg puree added to chicken mince or sardines 3-4 times/week. We also will be starting her on a vitamin supplement soon. Also got some sushi sheets to feed for trace iodine supplementation. Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    You need to tell us where you are located for us to recommend vets....

    Wanted to say good on your breeder and you for doing the raw diet.

    In the end it is not up to your vet what you feed your dog. They do check ups, vaccinations, micro chipping, desexing etc they are not experts on nutrition and most plug dry food companies because they are supported by dry food companies. Just be firm with your vet and tell them you are feeding raw, you are not changing your dogs diet and if they are going to continue to hassell you that you will find a different vet.

    I love my Vet, she is great at what she does and she is very Sympathetic and understanding in regards to finances. She also doesnt like British bulldogs as a breed and has lectured me a couple of times about their heath and life expectancy verse how much they cost to buy and Vet costs over their life.

    I wouldnt be turned off just because you guys dont see eye to eye on the feeding. You might miss out on having a great Vet and to be honest these days Vets are becoming like mechanics. Its hard to find one thats going to do a great job, give you support and not try and screw you financially.

    BL thats the type of vet though the OP needs.
    Not one thats wants to switch things to improve their own situation.
    I wouldn't like to be feeling pressured by anybody let alone my vet whom I should have faith in , believing they have mine and my dogs, best interests at heart

    I agree with your vets diet.
    A pessimist sees the glass as half empty;
    An optimist sees the glass as half full;
    A realist just finishes the damn thing and refills it.
