Sadly Ruby there is nothing illegal about what this person is doing. She isn't neglecting the dog just selling it because they cannot keep it. Nothing illegal in re selling a dog.

No dog should be free to good home. Too many get taken by people just wanting to make a quick buck - but they don't look after the dog properly. Some get taken by people who want them for dog fights as bait or fighters.

I think that what you have put here Hyacinth is so right.
I would think it is along the same as for buying a car for your kids.
They never appreciate it fully. But when they pay for it they tend to look after it a lot more.
So I can see this in the same picture, didn't pay out a cent for it so it is not as important to care for all because it was free.

Hey, this sounds like a duck, walks like a duck, probably is a duck then.
ITs a bull story regarding how they aquired it.

Where do people get off charging so much for dog anyhow? Its not a pure breed, of nice lines, its a bitsa, and unwanted bitsa. For me, id be prioritising finding a new home fast before socialisation phase is over. Time is running out.

The pup's probably going to be better off where its wanted.
Not enough room for 2 dogs. Rubbish!

As the OP said, it doesn't look like what its supposed to be, it also looks too small to be 12 weeks for the breed that it is (unless that photo was taken when they first got it round 4-6 weeks ago). Puppies in pet shops are usually smaller breeds, although there may be some larger ones, and the puppies are usually 6-8 weeks old. And USUALLY the petshops keep up with the vaccs. How could they of gotten it from a petshop, but it only has one vacc? By 12 weeks it should have 2-3. That first vacc is probably the one the pet shop got done.

FWIW in the "Story" it sounds like something I'd do, get the last pet from the pet store to stop it getting put down/hurt, and find it a lovely home, but where the difference lies is the problem. They say they got it just to save it, but then act like they were intending to keep it, and oh, there other dogs turns up, so off we go pup.

They may be genuine, but theres too many iffy things. Some people on FB even list stuff just for laughs, then give out fake addresses. Others try to get you to deposit the money after a "quick viewing" with view to picking up the animal later. Others suck you in and get you to travel a long way for nothing. Its a very bad world out there, and one, sadly, has to be very cautious with ads like these. And even though some dogs you see can end up breaking your heart (don't even ask me about the Cavelier story or I'll start sobbing) sometimes you have to step away, as these enablers will never stop whilst theres a market.

Someone suggested reporting them to the RSPCA, I used to volunteer there, what exactly could you report about them? I don't think theres anything that can be done, especially with understaffing. Possibly the most anyone could do, was to offer to the owner, options of no-kill shelters and private adoption agencies that walk accept drop-offs.
