    Default Grooming for My Girls.

    Hi guys,

Does anyone know of anyone in the sydney area that does "show grooming", I have decided I want to start showing my girls on the coast and in sydney "on my own", as i dont want to wait months between shows and have to travel the three hours to sashas breeders place

she has been great but there are SO many shows i can go to around where i am and i want to GO.

Only problem being cockers they require some specific grooming for the ring, and i am not anywhere NEAR game enough to touch them. and If i am going to go across some tough competition i dont want to take my dogs in looking like dags lol.

    any ideas?

I was like you, but I went to some different newfie show people and they showed me how to do my own.
Your Breeder if she shows is most likely able to help. or does she know anyone. My Breeder spent quite a bit of time with us and at some shows used to do some touch-ups just before. In the end you have to take the plunge. i did one terrible job on one of my girls ears once. But it becomes easier and easier.......
We have our own bath now and dryer. Now the dryer makes all the difference. I would not be able to show without my dryer. Now I maintain my dogs in Show trim/condition all the time. I allow them to be in mud and swim and so forth, but only need a quick wash just before. i have found it much easier and less stressful. So we groom at least once a week thoroughly and quick brush-overs every second day. I trim often during our showing season, which is in the cooler month. I do not show in Summer. I worry too much about heat stress for my dogs.
Just have a go, it will grow back and you have to learn somehow

yeh she will more than certainly show me how. I just thought i would prefer to pay someone who can do a brilliant job on my girls for the show than doing a terrible one on them myself...

John Edwards - I don't have his details just now but will try and find his number and post later today.

John Edwards Dog Grooming is located at 472 Windsor Road, Baulkham Hills. Phone: 9639 3449.

John bred some stunning Cockers under the Marsden prefix (Ch. Marsden Time Traveller is one that comes to mind). I think he may still breed poodles.

He groomed my dogs years ago for the bigger shows, but I groom them myself now as I'm confident in what I'm doing.

He is an excellent groomer and understands the Cocker "show trim". I remember being able to sit and watch quietly while he trimmed away, it was a good way to learn.

    Good luck!

I can also recommend John Edwards, he always has a stack of poodles in for grooming so you need to ring and book early.

Another place is That Pet Place at Dural 96511439 they show and breed cockers. My Gordon Setter goes there about twice a year as I no longer have any decent clippers.

Great minds think alike Mac, I'd already sent dan4nas a pm about the same place.

    Cheers
