    Question Question on Pit Bulls

I have a question which someone who knows about Pitbulls may be able to answer.

A Sleek, well muscled, wide head, big jawed stray dog came into our park today, (good looking dog actually ) and everyone was saying Its a "PIG DOG" though they know no more about that breed than i do and thats Nada. (Poodles, Shepherds and Kelpies I know)

The owner of the park said it was Pitbull X Bull Arab. (He actually has Mastive X's) On my asking how he was so certain, he replied.

    1. It has yellow eyes which have a lot of depth...... All Pitbulls do
    2. The Roman shaped nose with pink on the end.....Is Bull Arab

Actually wondering if all Pitbulls and Pitbull X's always have yellow eyes. Would anyone on the forum be able to answer this.

    Thanks.

The answer is no they don't.

I used to have a pitty/whippet mix who had dark chocolate coloured eyes.

Unfortunately for pitbulls, most people havent got a clue what they are talking about and mistaken identity has resulted in a very bad rep for pitties

EDIT: Here is a pic of our pitty/whippet x at about 4 months old.....dark eyes not even close to being yellow

And for that matter, I don't think pitbulls have wide jaws either...they have thick muzzles, there is a difference.

you probably saw a bitsa dog on the way to becoming proto dog (similar to dingos). Ie there is a sort of generic shape that all uncontrolled breeding of dogs morph towards.

I don't think there are very many true pitbulls in Australia. There's quite a few naughty people saying they have them, and you can't really tell them from Amstaff just by looking but they're more likely amstaff x than pitbull. Or just xxx bitsa.

    roman nose/head = bull terrier.

look at my dog, sleek, muscled, big head, and he is a pig dog, but, no pitty in him, I wish there was, but sorry, no

My advice is, don't listen to anyone about pits unless they have one

Well I first picked number 7 and second number 16. I thought number 7 might have been an ear trimmed USA model. It would be interesting to see how close 7 actually is to 16 in DNA testing

    LOL Newfsie

I was never able to find the link for the page of dogs - pick the pitbull that had a report on the dna analysis on each dog pictured. There was one that for all the world looked like a rottweiler that came back "significant chihuahua".
