Ahhh okay, apologies. I agree, it's not where the ad is I have a problem with so much as the content of them, there is a lot missing from them that should be there.

And sadly yes, a friend of mine paid $1200 for a Husky from a local pet store

I have issue with it BD. I think you should point out to the Vet that he is willingly allowing someone to advertise their blatant disregard for the law (not having them chipped) and for the welfare of the animals (not vaccinating pups) they are selling!

I would put it in writing, and ask that the Vet review their policy on ads. Your letter needs to be reasonable, polite and firm.

Of course no reason to change so much. I wonder if people would actually buy untested husky puppies for that much.
My issue is not that they are selling them, my issues is that all three posters advertised that there was NO microchipping, selling them too early and one no vaccination! Nothing even mentioned about desexing..

So Yes I have a bloody problem with it!

I am not against BYB actually, I have a family friend who breeds Labs BUT.

She microchipps, vaccinates, they dont go to new homes till they are 10 weeks, and gives money back if desex them.

It is possiblle that the pups will not actually leave home until they are at least 8 weeks but are only six weeks at time of advertising, if the vet knows the breeders well enough to let them put adds in the window it is possible that when the pups do get vaccinated or chipped that will be added to the add then.

It is rather odd for a vet to allow someone who does not do right healthwise by their pups to advertise (no money in it for them) so maybe the adds just leave out some information.

The sooner breeders need a breeder number to sell any pup the better.

i was talking to the breeder of my pup last night and i am amazed at how easy it is to become a registered breeder..... i was in shock basically, these are the people who are menat to help the newbies.... but in actual fact they could be less educated then the people buying the pups..... there definatly should be some sort of standard that goes into becoming a breeder, not jsut pay your money and away you go.......

I was actually surprised to learn that micro chipping is law in NSW and a few other states over east. It doesn't really seem to be pushed over here in WA. I assume when you're selling pups, you would microchip the dog under your name and get the buyer to change details when purchased?

I think if vets are not supporting the law regarding microchipping ATLEAST then who does.

It is not overly enforced here Tiff unless you are a Registered Breeder. BYB's never do it and to be honest I could only imagine how hard it would be to get a BYB to sign the change over after the pups are sold. But still law is law and Vet's should not be advertising unvaccinated, unmicrochipped, too young litters for sale.

Agreed, and this should also extend to BYB's and puppy farmers.

Before we bought Murphy we looked on a facebook site that is only linked to this area and it has got pets of all types for sale on it.
The wife seen this ad which they had 6 Chocolate Labrodor pups for sale. All it said was $350 and that they were all wormed and this was all.
we had a look at them and oh were they cute. The wife asked if one of the parent dogs were there. They had both of the in their back yard. The Chocolate was the dad and he was a big boy. Mum was a white and she was so much smaller in height that this bothered me. I knew she would be thinner but the size different was really noticable. The wife offered them only $250 which was declined.
Then I went to get fuel in my ute and seen an ad on the servo window where we got Murphy from.
Again they only had that they have been wormed. We went and looked but they wanted the $350 for them to.And again the wife offered them the same $250 and they said yes.
So this was 2 ad's for pup here that had only said the pups are wormed and that was it.

I had a look for the laws here about microchpping and it was made compulsary on the 1st of May 2007 for both dogs and cats.
