Nope I don't agree the dog should be out but it was friendly so your rant was over the top as I have already stated. I also stated I understand, it is frustrating but as Angela said if I ranted about every escaped dog I came across there would be a lot of ranting.
What I don't understand is the continue on about it and the fact you still haven't reported it to council if you are so upset about it. Jeez, report it or move on.

If your dog did that to me she would have been on lead and taken to the pound. Where you could pick her up for a fee. That is how people learn lessons.

I am apparently overreacting when i dont agree with what you are saying. now your acting childish because i think your reasoning behind your comments has nothing to do with what i have said. this forum is becoming a place for people to come and argue with one another not to have a chat about dog related issues. I for one am getting sick of it. I had my rant, i didnt even expect or want a reply, thus being called a rant, not a question, not a poll.. i understand your reasoning behind your comments k and p i always said i did, but at the same time i do not agree that what i was saying had anything to do with tarnishing a breed. so i was not in agreeance with it. i stand byt the fact that it was a terrible walking experience. it was frustrating, and seriously pissed me off. I am more than entitled to feel that way and i am more than sure if you were in that situation and your dog was showing signs of distress you yourself would be pissed off about it. I make no apologies for my rant. if you dont like what someone has to say why not ignore and go to another thread?

Where is the bowing emoticon when you need it!

Exactly the point I was trying to make... & the bolded bit is exactly why I always have a spare leash in the car and with me on walks. If the other dog wants a walk great, it can walk with me back to my place where it can be collected by the council. Simple as that....

Go for it.. You can pay the fee to the council for releasing her!

Fine, i am wrong, i am a terrible person. I am irresponsible. I, when leaving the house for a walk should take a lead with me ready to bring back any stray or escapee that annoys the crap out of me and i should not come on a dog forum and talk about dog situations. fair enough?

I always pick up the strays I see and try to get them home. Personally I find that is the right thing to do as I wouldn't want the dog to get hit by a car etc.

This is something you will have to get used to as a dog owner. Some dogs escape without owners knowing, some people are irresponsible, either way you will come across loose dogs on your walk, so be prepared, walk with a stick and take an extra leash.

But in the end you just have to get used to it and deal with it.

I actually find this thread amusing.

Whenever someone puts "a dog looked like a pitbull" in a post I always cringe... you just know someone is going to come on and say "it was not a pitbul! Prove it! How do you know what breed it was!!???"
But if the post had have said "there was this poodle that was harassing me" there wouldn't have been a second thought.

I don't take a spare lead with me when I walk my dog. If I see a stray dog wandering the streets I am very cautious. How do you know that dog is going to be friendly?
Yeah sure it might look nice and be wagging its tail chasing after you but if you go to put a lead on it, who's to say it won't bite?
A friend of mine has a Husky, nice as pie... until you touch his collar.

I would always just call the council or pound straight away to pick up the dog, and if possible try to confine the dog... ie: if it was in my yard when I came home I would shut the gate so it couldn't run back to the street.
