Thread: Grrrr I Hate Irresponsible Dog Owners.

The point I was making was I have at least 3 or 4 of these 'occurances' every day. So I'm probably a bit more able to think clearly about it.

What were you doing about the other dog? How did you react to it? Did you tell it to go home? Did you growl at it & attempt to see it off? Or did you just fuss over Sasha & pick her up, make a fuss of her & carry her home?

LOL Yep, I'm critical, and yes I'm a bitch at times too. That wasn't what was happening when I replied to your post though. You over-reacted to it & now you don't seem to want to admit it. The same thing as with your first thread on here. I thought you learnt from that? Take out your belief that you are being attacked and re-read the posts without adding your own emotion into them. Then you will see them for what they are. You were not being attacked or ridiculed. I am genuinely sorry that I made you feel that way.

AT ALL.
I realise that but better to not guess at the breed of the dog.

Say "A medium/large sized mixed breed dog" that is a perfect description and still gets across your point without pointing fingers at innocent breeds of dog.

As I said it is because of identifications such as you have just done after dog attacks that have given American Pitbull Terriers a bad name. This may not have been an attack but it doesn't matter if it was an attack you would have described the breed exactly as you have here, which is probably incorrect. I bet you are not even aware of what a true APBT looks like.

Once again don't speculate on breed just stick to generics as above.

Like i said i let the dog initially have its sniff and hellos... i do not see a problem with this, especially when it came bounding up in a non agressive way. sasha had her sniff also and all was fine, i stood there for maybe 2-3 minutes letting this happen. then the play started, but only on the other dogs end. it was jumping all over her, and practically pounding its fore legs into her and this is when i noticed sasha not enjoying herself so i let out a firm NO. the dog backed off and started sniffing again and sasha was planted into the ground, thats when it tried to mount her. again i let out a firm NO and the dog back off, thats when i tried to walk, every step sasha and i took the dog just jumped all over her. honestly i was scared to do anything more than say firmly no to this dog as i do not know its personality and the "mixed" breed that it was sasha had no chance of defending herself or me getting it off her if things turned badly, thats why i stated what sort of crossbreed it looked like in my initial post so people could understand why i did not take firmer control of the dog, after about 5 minutes of trying to walk we must have gotten 5 metres! so yes i decided the walk was over and i picked my dog up and turned away to go home, the dog jumped up behind me the whole way home, nearly knocking me over a couple of times just trying to get to sasha. i understand why i should have called the council, i do, but no it did not enter my mind, i was just so frustrated at the situation.

In all honestly from that last description the dog sounds like it is probably still a puppy ie: no older than 12 - 14 months and didn't realise it was being rude and just wanted to play.

I do know what they look like, have not seen a properly bred one in life but i have seen photos etc on the net. i do not have any hate for ANY breed of dog, i merely stated what i believe the main look of the dog was, which was american staffy. it was not purebred but this was the type of look of the dog and i have given reason to me making a guess in my post above.

Yes i agree, it was not much older than that, but still it was not a great experience for me and my dog, and still at that age things can turn badly if provoked. I have never said it was aggressive.. not once. but it wasnt a great day for me or my dog. thats it.

You are missing my point re: misidentifying breeds.

I didn't say you are breed biased etc just that you shouldn't identify dogs unless you are 100% sure. Too many people have done what you did this morning and dogs die because of it.

You can't post on a forum and expect everyone to agree with you that is just how it is.

I do know your point! and i agree totally! alot if not most dog attacks people use the "pitty" look. And this tarnishes the breeds name, when in fact most cases this breed "guess" is not accurate. LISTEN OR READ I SHOULD SAY. i was merely stating the look of the mixed breed to explain y i did not take more control of the dog. THATS it! i do not know the breed! and i am happy to say that, I DO NOT KNOW THE BREED. i am sure if i said this poodle looking thing, you would have no problem with it. Iam not tarnishing the breeds name, so once again i dont know what you are fussing about.
