Nice to know I am the one being ridiculed, and just to add i was not the one who posted that i kicked a dog! yes I DID tell the kids to take the dog BEFORE they stated where the dog lived, they were both younger than five, i thought it belonged to them as they were calling it. i was not going to ask (after knowing it did not bleing to them) two very small boys to come take this dog, i said american staffy/pitbull looking thing, because this is eactly what it looked like, just a bit big which is why i added maybe a mastiff mixed in. I wont be ridiculed on this. I was doing the right thing, my dog was on a lead and it was a terrible experience, yes it appeared to be friendly, but it annoyed the **** out of me and this dog should be more properly contained as to not get out. Yes i walk this way every day, does not mean that the dog, if getting out all the time, only gets out at this particular time every day. I am not the irresponsible one. their NEIGHBOUR of whom i assume they WOULD know should be telling them what a nuisance their dog is or was on this particular day. I take care of my own dog, i wont be responsible for others. ridicule me all you want.

Sorry i read it properly and now know why you used that quote. I was simply pointing out what sort of dog annoyed sasha and i, no i dont know the mix but i was just stating what it looked like. i did not say it attacked or anything so i dont know why you are making a huge fuss, i was not shaming a breed. AT ALL.

And no i am not overreacting! i enjoy my walks with my dog, i dont need a dog three times sashas size jumping all over her, trying to mount her, jumping up at me and my dog for half a km back home as i carried her. not over reacting at all. i am sure you yourself would not enjoy this. the way it was jumping all over her could have hurt her and i care about the wellbeing of my dog. jeez.

You weren't being ridiculed. Just given some simple home truths.

You were the one supposedly "put out" by the other dog getting out. You were the one who had an issue about it. Therefore YOU should have done something like call your council about it before you jumped on the internet to have a rant.....

If you pick up a dog around my dog he's likely to jump at you too. Not because he wants your dog but because he wants a cuddle too & is feeling jealous.

You are relatively inexperienced with dogs & that's fair enough. But you can't automatically assume that every owner with a dog who gets out is irresponsible. Your dog is entire too, others will see that as irresponsible and will be peed off with you if you walk your girl while she's in season.

I'm also guessing that you don't work & are home most of the time therefore you always know where your dog is. Some of us don't have that luxury, in fact most of us don't.

Your 'incident' sounds like a daily occurance around here. Frankly you should be counting yourself lucky that that dog was not aggressive!! The responsible thing to do after such an incident is call your local council, give them the address of the dog and make a report with them about what happened. You didn't do that. I have no sympathy for those who do nothing when faced with this kind of thing.

ETA: For the record, having an entire dog does not make you irresponsible.

I HAD to pick her up! the dog would not let me walk one metre with her to get her away! i tried for a while to just continue the walk but this dog was three times her size and jumping on top of her, she was planting herself into the ground. And my dog being entire... hmmm.. she is now a show dog. she is being bred by the breeder in a couple of years, so ridicule me for THAT all you want also. she is not in season, i simply stated what happened if she was?? i would not walk her knowing she was. and NO i am not ineperienced with dogs, i have never been without a dog in the household my whole life. fair enough i have not had EVERY experience happen with dogs but i can guarantee no one has, every one learns something new all the time. i am new at the showing scene.

I had a rant to blow of some steam. you were not there, you cannot assume it was anything less than what i had stated. their dog is their problem. i am not walking back there, their neighbours know what happened. if what you said is true and its the first time, why should i call the council on this dog. what if it never gets out again. i am sure if my dog got out once and once only i would not like the rspca knocking at my door, i am entitled to be annoyed about the situation and have a rant. you dont like the rant, dont comment on it. people get annoyed with other dogs at dog parks, why not leave until the dog leaves then go back?? there is an answer for every rant.

The RSPCA don't turn up because your dog got out!!!!

People who don't know you won't know she's entire for show & breeding purposes though will they?

How do you know that dog doesn't have health issues that prevents him being desexed?

If my dog got out and he was just left to roam the streets and had met with a person walking their dog I would be FURIOUS that the council wasn't called!

I'm sick and tired of watching all these rants about situations like these. The RESPONSIBLE THING TO DO when you see a dog out is to CALL THE COUNCIL! Whether it's the first time or the fiftieth time.

You can rant all you want about them being irresponsible because their dog was out but you were EQUALLY irresponsible because YOU DID NOTHING ABOUT IT!!!

The easiest way to alert someone to their dog being out is to call the council. Hell you even had the address of where the dog lived!! The council can collect the dog (which you were incapable of at the time) and return it to it's home which is exactly what they do the first time a dog gets out (IME). If it's gotten out multiple times the owners will recieve a fine and hopefully do something about it. I'm still not seeing the logic behind you not calling the council. I think you just didn't think about it.

I also think that you were expecting pats on the back & poor you comments in relation to this. Ain't going to happen, not from me anyway.

ETA: I've never enjoyed any encounter that I've had with loose dogs & if I wrote a rant for every one I ran in to I'd get banned for spamming the forum!

you can be a very critical person. i have to say that much. maybe i assumed they were irresponsible, maybe they arent and your right that they dont know, thats my mistake and ill admit that, it PISSED me off. no i didnt think about calling the council. i thought about how my OWN dog and myself was feeling. i was not going to touch this dog, i dont know the temperament and i was not going to put myself or my dog in potential danger. and no not poor me, poor my DOG for having to put up witht this, she was scared stiff and i dont like my dog having to feel like she did. yelping and the such. It was not a great experience for a walk that was supposed to be enjoyable and calm, that was what my rant was about. excuse me i think you and i are done here. unless you would like to continue as in many threads you are the one who likes to argue for some stupid reason.

well i am not spamming the forum so, just because you have decided to not write about an experience that you did not enjoy does not mean you knock someone who decides to.
