    Default My Annabelle's "gotcha" Day

It has been three years since we "gotcha" Annabelle.
A fourteen month old out of control People and dog aggressive terror, who was not house-trained

six month of hell, six month of OK and two years of owning a gorgeous girl with Attitude. The Social Butterfly of the Kennel Club

My perfect training partner........I cannot believe how much she has taught me and how much I am still learning because of her. She started me on my learning path.......

She is now an Ace at Obedience, a Therapy dog, a friend, a teacher, loves to cart and just a lovely sweet dog. My huggable Annabelle, the dog with so many faces

She is so proud when she is carting

    Annabelle and the Demo team

Doesn't she look proud of herself, after a busy weekend

    The many faces of Annabelle

Nawww, she is just gorgeous. You have done an amazing job with her Newfie. I can only hope I can be as successful with Keira's rehab as you have been with hers.

Give her lots of hugs and kisses forher gotcha day!

    Wow! Well done!!

I must say, hearing that she was dog aggressive and can now be trusted off leash around other dogs is a major inspiration to me. How did you accomplish that?

Firstly, Obedience Training (lots and lots and even more) and then we did lots of Counter Conditioning and desensitisation. I was very lucky, I had/have a great Dog Trainer to guide me.
The Vet Behaviourist told me to PTS her. I did not full trust Annabelle until I had her for a year and we have ben in some fights with other dogs. And I have learned how to deal with those if they occur, none for the past year. But even now, I take full responsibility for her and I get her out of any potential problems. I always watch her reactions and I distract/work her, if I see any problems such as aggressive dogs.
The most important thing would be you have to know how to read dogs, yours and others

Yeah we're going through the motions of obedience training and it has helped her improve greatly. She still has her moments though. I'd trust her off lead playing, but never to obey me off lead with other dogs there doing their own thing.

It's great to know that I can work harder and can get her there though. I was aiming for having her on lead around dogs and not reacting, thinking that was as far as she could ever go, but now I can at least reach a little further If it never happens, tough, but it's good to try!

I hope Annabelle got a lovely dinner or treat for her special day
