    Smile Need Help

    Hi all

We met and chose our gorgeous Choc lab today! Now the breeder has said that for her papers we have to come up with two names and we are stumped and don't know what to do.
We want to call her Sookie if that helps.
Can anyone help or explain? This is the first time either of us has got a puppy from a registered breeder.

    Thanks
    K2BC

It isn't common that a breeder will ask you to name them. Given that they have though, you can have a little fun.

Her name will be three names in total. The first part will be what is called a prefix and every puppy will have that prefix. It is like we have a family name but with a dog, the family name is said first.

For example, let's say here prefix is Trilby. You might call one pup Trilby Billy Bob and another Trilby Betty Boo. Some breeders will pick a theme and name all the pups accordingly. For example, a precious stone theme might result in names like (using the ficticious prefix of Trilby again), Trilby White Diamond or Trilby Emerald Flame.

Isnt the prefix usually the breeders kennel name? That would explain why she has only asked you for two names, the first will be her kennels' name. I could be wrong though.

Usually the best registered names are the ones that match the personality of your puppy.

My pups registered name is 'Rhiannon He's a Rebel', he was named this because he was the first pup to climb out of the whelping box. Ask the breeder how your pup compares to other pups in the litter.

Are they asking for a first name and middle name? Assuming the third name (which goes first) is the surname. So try something like Sookie Elizabeth or whatever floats your boat! (If this is a True Blood reference then props btw!!)

By 2 names she means 2 different options.

Quite often a name will be submitted and rejected so you need to have a back-up name.

    So you could have:
"Kennel Sookie Lala" as your first preference and
"Kennel Sookie Soda" as you second preference.

It doesn't have to have anything to do with the pet name either. I have one whose name is "Kennel Get the party started" and his pet name is Brody.

Ok, well considering it's a TB reference, my suggestions will be:

    Sookie I'm-a-F*cking-fairy!
    Sookie lovesBill
    Sookie should-really-be-with-Eri-because-he-is-hot

    or

Sookie Pamela .... because Pam kicks serious ass!!

Awwwww Monday night can't come fast enough!!!!!!!
