    Default Help with Sasha

Hi guys, as most of you would know by now sasha is going to have her go in the ring, woohoo!

She is being shown on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of july.

I have one problem with her, ( i wont mention my own personal problem of being EXTREMELY nervous to go up against people who have been doing this their whole life!!! )
I need to know how i get her to walk with her head proudly in the air not with her nose stuck to the ground!!!! she will walk with me but jeez she just wants to SMELL!!!!!!

Any ideas on correcting this would be great.

And anyone who is experienced in the ring want to give me some pointers would be great!!!

    Re-inforcement zone.

Take part of her dinner ration, put it in a zip lock bag and put that in a jacket pocket or zip lock bag.

Start by holding the food next to you where you want her head to be and using it to lure her into the correct position. Say yes and reward.

Or you can teach her to touch her nose on your hand and then use targetting your hand to get her nose in the right place.

You may also want to use a head halter for about a month to prevent her from putting her nose on the ground so you can reward her for putting it in the right place. If you use the head halter for all walks from now till july, she will probably be ok in the ring, especially if you have rewarded lots for keeping her head up.

Mine heels with her head stuck to my thigh looking up at me - mostly because of the large number of treats I distribute on most walks for doing this. Ie high re-inforcement rate especially when you first start. LOTS of treats.

And then you can start to vary how often you pay out. And pay out only for longer holds of your prefered pose. But start with tiny incremental increases in time and reward lots.
