I would love to set up an APBT rescue, but the way things are I doubt it will happen, will have to move to N.T. first, as well as fostering and finding forever homes for them, I would like to take in and work with one's that were used for fighting/bait dogs and asses them and rehabilitate them if possible to show the public they are not all evil, and I would possibly like to bred some working pits for agility and wieght pull type sports.

    ......one day

No plans at all- just having Roscoe as a good family pet, and one that makes me exercise everyday!
I would like a 2nd dog (just as another family pet also) but hubby not so keen.

Yep, but so far I've been allergic to all of them
Dandie Dinmonts may be ok, I've met some but not spent enough time around them to be able to tell for sure. Even some poodle crosses I'm allergic to (mum has a maltese x poodle, who I can't be around too much). I've even had rounds of allergy shots etc - I'm better than I used to be, but still not at the point that I could really own most dogs.

As it is, my guys are now 7, 8 and 9 years of age. My moggy is going into her 15th year and the cockatiels are approx 11 and 15 years respectively. I figure that within 7 years I will not have any of them still with me. In 7 years, my husband will be very close to retirement (within a year or 2) and I will not be too far off it either, although a few more years for me yet. It may not be the ideal time to get any more pets.
I sometimes think about that too Anne. I am still only relatively young (31) but having popped out a baby at 19, I have never travelled. When we moved to Sydney 2 years ago, that was my very first time off the North Island of NZ!! So we have thought about not having any more too (especially the OH) though we thought that once Barney (he is 6) had passed over the bridge we could probably do some travelling round Australia on bikes or in a caravan. Our daughter will be out of high school by then and it'll just be us and Pippi and because she is tiny, we can easily take her with us.

I dont know if I could ever be completely without a dog

I would love the freedom, it's sad, tomorrow we are going away for our first weekend in 3 years.
We haven't gone away before because we had no-one to look after the dogs. I don't like to put them in a kennel unless absolutely necessary.

And even so, one of them is still coming with us!

I'm only 25 so I still have quite a few years of staying home with the dogs ahead of me

Yea the freedom would be good. But then I have a child anyway so Im stuffed regardless LMAO

My OH and i have been together 13 years and we have been away on a holiday maybe twice. And both times were only coz his mother came to NZ from England.

It seems everyone has holidays at our place which means we never get to actually go on holiday ourselves

yeah, $20 million on power ball next week, all mine!

I alway wanted to do something with pits since I had one years ago, and my wife just read "the lost dogs" about the michael vick dogs, and she's the one who wanted to do the rescue, I'm only half way through the book, but I've always wanted to do it anyway.

Last year I went China, Cambodia, Brisbane, an Melbourne (twice). All separate holidays. This year I am already booked to go to Sri Lanka, have been to Melbourne and will be going to Perth in a couple of weeks and will do other travel before the year is out. Next year I am going to France already and I am not sure where else.
