Both of those look like they need hand stripping...

Not sure that Cairn terrier needs stripping. They have a lighter coat, bit more like a yorkie/aussie terrier. But the Borders and Norfolk do. And some ACD too.

what about a short coat bitsa?

One of my FB friend posted that today, it's her sisters dog. They LOVE to run.

Sheltie won't be for a while, I've put the feelers out but we are getting another Crested first.

Another breed you might like is a PBGV, they are an acquired taste but grooming is minimal.

Difficult to find a tick on the PBGV too. They're like a Bassett, only hairer and a little bit lighter.

I can't imagine Fred Basset doing any better than the bulldog at agility either. They (PBGV) are an energetic breed too. And have a lot in common with a beagle when it comes to a good scent to track down. Recall? Not while I'm checking this track out. Byeeee....

At least that's how the one that appears at our local oval is like. When the owner first told me the name of the breed I thought it was Petit Basset x Griffon x Vendeen. Oops.

Ooh, new crested? When?! Hehe, puppies!

I really like the Crested. If I can only convince the parents, it'd be good.

I think I'd go bonkers with a scent hound type. It irks me when I'm ignored on a recall

True, my mums Basset has pretty good recall... when he's not tracking something

And oh yes, there will be puppies

It's hard to think of breeds... hmmmm....

    What about a Whippet?

I did consider a whippet, but I figure they're too fragile around a Dane, their skin tears really easily.

I really wanted a Chinese Crested but my OH refused. He said he didn’t want a dog with hair like Van Halen.
So I am back to the following breeds in order of my OH’s preference:
    Min Pins
    Shetland Sheepdogs
    Papillons
