Bavarian Lodge up in Londonderry is good.

Very cheap too. $18 a day (all year including peak). Each pen is much much larger than any of the other kennels we have viewed.

And the exercise area is a massive paddock, it's huge. Most parks arent even that big, and it has a creek or pond.

The owners are lovely and really accomodating to special requests etc.

We found them to use for a holiday we were planning but never went on btu never actually used them. However, my mum often comes up from Melbourne with her dog and the first time she did this, she took over our booking for our no longer happening holiday.

She now likes the kennel so much that they bring him with them every time now and put him in that kennel when they get here. She refuses to even look at the ones in Melbourne because she likes this one so much LOL

I suggest getting a dog walker/pet carer to visit your house. I have a dog walker who comes in on a weekly basis and she looked after my whole fur-family when I went away for Easter. She was great. And since I had a lot of animals here at the time (foster cat family) it worked out quite cheap.

I find this can be less stressful on the dog too.

But it just depends what your needs are I guess.

Thanks for both the replies I did think of house and dog sitting but my partner doesn't seem to keen on someone in the house while we are away. Will definately have a look at the Bavarian Lodge Kennels and maybe send them there for a night and see how my pampered pooches cope without mummy and daddy!!!! Thanks again Michelle and Lala...

Bavarian lodge kennels, I should warn you, is very different from lots of the other kennels I checked out.

Its almost got a less "professional" feeling about it. Yea, its like you are just going to someones house....which is in fact what you are doing LOL

But the pens etc seem less "pound like" than some of the other kennels I have seen.

The dogs tails are always wagging. And the people are just lovely. They had my mums dog the first time for 4 nights. When I rang to book him in the next time (6 months later) I said "I am just ringning to book my mums dog in" and they straight away said "that's for Keb isnt it".

Its hard to explain. Its not the flashest facility, but they are an excellent price and they really seem to lov all the dogs that visit.
