    Default Puppy Advice??

    Hi everyone,

We have 3 pups left to sell, and they're getting quite big... We want to find them homes within the next week. They are 11 weeks old.

Any suggestions on how we can find suitable homes? We currently have them listed on Gumtree, and put some posters around in a few towns, and in our car window, and I've gotten family and friends to share links on facebook about them.

I'm not sure how else I can get them exposure.

If we can't find them homes, I definitely will NOT be selling them to a pet shop, rest assured... but we need to do something and my last resort will be to give them up to the rspca, at least then they will have interaction, exercise and all the shots, microchipping and desexing well taken care of...

Do you think I would be able to get help from rspca with advertising without surrendering the pups??

    Thanks

What breed are they... I'm a bit confused are they not vaccinated & microchipped now... you should be getting that done yourself prior to rehoming them.... The RSPCA will def not help you... Where abouts are you, there might be a rescue group willing to take the pups...

I think these were German Short Haired pointers.

The closer they are to the 8 to 12 weeks of age - the easier they are to find homes. Have you put posters up at your local vets - sometimes when someone loses a dog, they look for a new one, especially if they had two and so there's a lonely dog now. And sometimes someone is just looking for a new dog and if they see the notice at the vet - at least you know they're willing to take their dogs there.

Did you ever get hold of the GSP breeders club? What did they say?

    Try these guys

Dogz Online - The Pure Breed Dog Community of Australia
    rescue@gspclubsa.com

Ask them if there is someone closer to you that can help.

ah ok... I saw the pics, they look healthy and should be easy enough to find homes for... have you tried the trading post... you can also ring your local canine council, they have puppy listings, your local breed club should also offer puppy listings... for both of these you will need to follow regulations... otherwise you may just need to hang on to them until you can find homes... you brought them into the world I believe it's your responsibility to find them good forever homes....

if pure bred what about dogsonline, I know our lab breeder had 7 pups left when they where 6 wks old and sold them all in 3 days.

Also your breeds club should have a person nominated to help with finding them homes, even if a cross breed ( eg lab x staffy both lab and staffy club could help to find homes)

Have you thought about dropping the price?

But def not right to surrender then to the rspca, they have enough on their plate. Imo pet shop is a better option than that.

Are they not currently microchipped or vaccinated?

Just an FYI - Lollen rescued the bitch and it was already pregnant and I believe only 3 weeks off welping.

Lollen - Have you tried advertising in the Trading Post...it sometimes gets more exposure than Gumtree. Otherwise as other have suggested try speaking with breed specific rescues or smaller rescues (not RSPCA)

Also having them microchipped, flea and worm treated might be best, as well as possibly dropping the price. Good luck, they are gorgeous I am sure you will find them the right homes.

Oh dear, yes they must be vaccinated, microchipped and most importantly desexed before going to new homes!
The bitch has already had an 'oops' (I know, not when you had her) but you certainly don't want all the puppies having 'oopsies' as well especially when you can't sell these ones!

Local newspapers are the way to go. A lot of people browse the pets section for puppies and yes, I do know a few reputable breeders who use local papers to sell pups so it's not "terrible" as I have seen some people say (not here, on other sites).
I'm not sure what you are charging but it should be minimal, with no vaccinations, chipping or desexing you should only be charging about $50 each.

oh thanks for the heads up, I didnt realise, good for her... I hope we have given her enough places... still not sure where she is.. I might be able to help via pet rescue, but they will need to be desexed, which I can arrange... good luck let me know if I can help...
