Thread: Leonbergers

    Question Leonbergers

    Does anyone have 1?
Are there any good breeders in NSW?

What are your experiences with this breed?

    Thanks

    welcome to the forum.

All I know about Leonburgers is they were nearly wiped out during both world wars, they were bred to a look desired by a mayor? of some town in Europe, and they have a lot in common with Newfoundland dogs and St Bernards.

For me - way too big and slobbery but each to their own.

to find a registered Australian breeder, you need to start here.
    Australian National Kennel Council

There is a breed standard for them there, so I think there are some in Australia. But there is no national breed council, so you will need to work through the affiliated dog registers in each state.

We get a few that come to our newfy day...i love them, just as sweet as newfies. But yes some do slobber. I have one dry mouth newfie and two slobbery ones. I just carry a towel. They are so worth a bit of slobber
