Thread: Bad Breeder

    Default Bad Breeder

Hi, my name is Molly and I'm a pedigree Rottweiler. I have severe sub-aortic stenosis which means I will die before I'm 3 years old. Some people think that my heart condition isn't genetic, but there are scientists doing studies on this right now. My mum thinks that if there is any chance that my heart condition is genetic, then my breeder shouldn't produce any more pups from my parents.

We found out that my parents have had another litter and they are advertised now. My breeder sells her pups for $1,500 each and every pup is put on the Main Register.

I am really sad that the human that bred me doesn't care about my breed, and uses her breeder status to sell pups.

I wish human beings who breed dogs wouldn't be as selfish as my breeder.

That is just disgusting... I wish there was something that could be done about the so called 'breeder'.

Parents and offspring should have all been desexed, not bred from.

I'm just glad Molly ended up with someone who loves and cares for her.

    Thanks Crested

We worry about the other littermates though. And what about these latest ones, I bet the breeder hasn't told them that SAS runs in the family *sigh*

Unspoken rule for many breeders... never admit fault.

You can show them proof and yell and scream till you are blue in the face, they will never admit there is a problem, and if there is,.. it was your fault, not theirs.

You could get your vet to send details of the problem along with the doggy ancestry to here...

Then at least it would be available to anyone else who wanted to know.

    Yes I did

I assume breeders pay money to advertise their litters on that site and they put money before health.

Molly is a very happy girl and is much loved

Dear Molly, my name is Villain. I am a Dobermann, so I kinda look a bit like you :-)

When I was neutered, my owner discovered that I have a 'factor 8 clotting problem'. This means that my blood does not clot properly. My breeder did DNA testing, so I am negative for VonWillebrands disease Type I, but there are up to 120 other variations of the disease which are not tested for.

When my owner (very politely) sent an email along to my breeder to tell her this (my owner thought she would be interested for the health of future pups), my owner was screamed at and accused of slandering the breeder in public. My owner was pretty upset because she thought she did the right thing by telling the breeder (and noone else until this post here and now).
Unlike you, Molly, my condition is only life threatening if I need surgery or have a severe injury when my owner (let's just call her Jo) is not here to get me to a vet fast.

Me and Jo and Flirtty send you our very best wishes. It's a good thing you have a lovely home with a responsible, caring owner. We just wish we could send you a cure, too.
