I will never, as long as my butt faces the ground, accept mandatory desexing of pet dogs.

Entire dogs is not the issue, the way in which people handle their dogs is the issue.

Can I add a question here: Does this forum have any rules regarding cross breeding dogs? To my knowledge, and I could very well be totally wrong, this forum supports both the pure and the cross and it does not oppose or support any single breeding practice.

I could be off base, and I often am, but it has always amused me that there is a section here for dogs to be sold or given away, there are no real restrictions on this, and yet any person who stumbles in an advertises a dog that is not desexed is hounded until they leave.

This forum sometimes is more 'curioser' than what Alice found in Wonderland.

It has nothing to do with forum rules Anne, it has to do with peoples opinions and being allowed to voice them. I am here to ensure it is done respectfully.

Sorry Pugger, I should have added my comments were generalised and not aimed at the moderation, but just musings about the reaction in general of members.

Yes it's quite confusing seeing people up in arms about someone who is has an undesexed dog for sale and then they freak out over a member they like being "picked on" for the same thing.

I always thought the forum was just against bad breeding practices, not cross vs pure.

As I said, unfortunately 99.9% of questions you get on forums will be from people not breeding responsibly.
If people were breeding responsibly they would have a mentor to guide them through the process of health testing, mating, whelping and caring for pups... Someone who has already had a litter and knows what to expect. They wouldn't need to rely on strangers on the internet for answers.
I learned all I need to know about breeding from my mum, she learned it from a fellow breeder and they learned it from another breeder and so on. Methods change along the way but it's important to have someone with experience helping you. I mean absolutely no offense to anyone here but someone could ask a serious question about breeding, and get a terrible answer because someone has decided to guess. I mean I have heard some things that have made me cringe since I joined here.

If people are actually willing to listen and get advice then they will stick around... if they are told that they should get X-Y-Z tests dome on their dog before they breed it, and they are offended and leave the forum then they weren't going to listen to the help offered anyway..

    Yes, I agree Crested Love.

I should go off and read the thread now I guess to see why everyone was so up in arms a couple of pages back.

I thought the forum was against bad breeding too

However I am pretty sure I saw a comment in a thread the other day saying "Dog forum in no way condones cross breeding at all".

I thought it was pugger who said it

Could be wrong, it was late at night.

Anyway, my point bing, I am always a tad confused about that aspect too

I think the issue is more that the majority of cross breeding is not done responsibly so it's easier to say that it doesn't condone it.

This is getting quite funny, there are many bad breeding practices in the dog world, I see Jemima Harrison is onto the Neos at CRUFTS this year on her blog, she reckons they ought to be deregistered and, looking at those she chose to post photos of I would agree, if all Neos were like those dogs.

As to what the forum or anyone here stands for it changes even in one thread, further back Crested love is going to report me to the Dogs QLD because I cross breed, she thinks it ok that they, to quote roughly, are.

'Too busy to keep track of breeders without people reporting what she thinks is wrong doing

Now Crested Love you have no problem with if done right???? you have put that up twice since your little crack up at me.

ALL our dogs have just had DNA swabs sent away for the latest available tests, some FORTY ODD of them, you will not even have this yourself yet done on your own dogs, yet you are busily sending in reports on me and making comments about how "Once somebody gets a mark against their name with ANKC it is there forever" another rough quote from you.

Quite frankly I do not give toss, I like common sense dog people and can respect the views of rescue folk, they have to look condemned dogs in the eye almost daily, I respect also the truly good and wise breeders but do not respect an org that has us agree to stand by a code of ethics they all know darn will is being broken daily in huge way.

What families rescuing a dog from a shelter and coming to forums like this often do not know is that there are huge ANKC registered breeders turning over more than 1.5 million dollars a year on pups, and I am about to be dobbed on for breeding a few crosses, (my Bandogs by the way are known and respected WORLD wide) and so has another been castigated yet, if you had the time to go over her posts pretty well everything has been already admitted to by her that she is acused of, so what is going on here

The least anyone can do is live by their own code, be it a private thing or, if an organisation, they ought FIND time to inspect all breeders kennels and see that their 'Code ' is being followed, and approve or not as they do in Germany, just or one instance, there, if your set up is not up to standard you do NOT get a prefix.

That is why they breed, in general, better dogs than we do, we are too busy looking in others back yards to take care of our own.

Oh' also, a full panel of DNA tests (40 odd) is now very affordable.
