    hi V&F

If we don't dream - it won't happen... well maybe

Anyway you could try contacting K9Pro and Agility Click who run seminars that people travel from interstate to attend about what they need in a venue and nearby accomodation. How many motels let dogs stay over? Even in crates?

I traveled to seminar in NSW Hunter Valley recently and the venue sucked. It was "dog friendly" in a completely no rules kind of way... people were not picking up after their dogs, there were aggressive dogs off lead, the cleaner's live in dog roamed the place fat and with a completely matted coat - very pathetic BC next to all the agility dogs there. And they picked up the rubbish for about 80 people - once a week instead of daily. And we were all cooking and eating there because there was nowhere else to go. The roads were not night travel friendly at all. They were barely day time travel friendly - one or half lane unsealed goat tracks - at least an hour or so to the nearest "towns" which did not have things like places to eat or get takeaway food.

    Great food for thought guys!

@Hyac; Steve at K9Pro is likely to be one of my biggest 'benefactors', so his brain I will be picking much! Thankfully my town is 'on' the beaten track, but dog friendly accommodation is an area to explore.

Thanks to all for the suggestion and words of encouragement... I hope I have the confidence (I was gonna say 'balls') to get this going. I tell myself dreaming is fine, but snooze and loose!!!!

V&F, sounds like doggie nirvana to me. It is definitely something I would use, and you are semi-local to me (I'm in Pakenham), so you already have customer #1!

Best tip I can give you - business plan, business plan, business plan.

I know you are running down ideas at the moment, but writing up your business plan will expand your ideas further (I am a SBO myself), and allow you to narrow your focus into what really matters. The CBA has one that you can download off their site for nothing, and is actually very good.

You know, sometimes, when you have that one sage idea, the best thing you can do IS go to the bank. (And just to beat that horse, they WILL take you seriously with your business plan in hand, rather than just pay you lip service) Speak to their SBA's, use their expertise, talk to your council, get in the ear of real estate (they know about land moreso than anyone else!), join your local networking associations - there is so much you can do to blue print your success before you ever turn that first sod, and it does sound like a mighty fine idea.

Absolute best of luck with it!
