But yes there are some good ones but we do need some reform on the amount breed & alot more trainers kennels/yards checked.
I once walk into a hound yard & found a dead dog that the others had started eating. The owner was embrassed but said I just didn't understand greyhounds.

I dont buy it, if your as passionate as you make out you would not have stood by without doing something.

I know a few that breed a thicker boned greyhound looking dog for hunting they call them Australian Staghounds or Kangaroo dogs & they are very fast dogs that kills rabbits every sun up & sun down.
A Staghound is Australia,s very first actual breed of dog well established before the Cattle dog and the Kelpie. It was developed by using the coursing type greyhounds of the time to the deerhound of the late 1700,s which then was similar in appearance to the dogs Edwin Landseer depicted in his paintings. This dog was used to supply the early settlers with fresh meat and to destroy the dingos that preyed on their stock. It is an extremely rare dog today bordering on extinction and is only confined to western victoria and south australia where no other breed of dog can do the job that they were developed for which is why they have survived and are kept by a small band of enthusiasts. They are a clearly defined breed and different in conformation than other sighthound breeds.

So all it takes to get into the greyhound game is to buy a pup then buy a couple of packets of weetbix a week , spend one hour a day on training, slipping, trialing, washing, cleaning it,s kennel, taking it to the checkers or vet,s and then put it back in it,s small confined kennel for 23 hours a day with a few beatings in between. WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH! Some people here need to do some actual research on subjects they persist on commenting on without getting information second, third or fourth hand or from books or internet sites or basic lies made up for a conversation topic. And why are they building a new greyhound track? Maybe it,s to improve conditions for the animals racing there and to replace the many tracks they have closed down. I would never sign a petition based on emotion rather than actual facts or solutions.

I know of a few aussy Staghound breeders actully & will put up a couple of pics for you. They are rare(the true stags) but a devoted group are breeding their numbers back up.
My brothers friend uses 2 in his pigging pack & take them kangarooing also. His are both short haired dogs & look like a greyhound with thicker type of coat & alot more bone & muscle. Before anyone starts I am not condoneing or for pigging just stating what I know.
We used the have a pair we toke rabbiting they have the most amazing turn of speed I have EVER seen. Great dogs & if I ever get settled on my farm I may just get another 1 day.

Well I don't think I said what action I toke.
But yes I did report him, I was there to gather evidence which I did.
He went to court over it & other cruelity affences got a **** load of fines & his trainers liceince suspended for 5yrs.
He moved states & still trains hounds now.
I know another simalar story about a pig dog breeder & so called Bull Arab founder & he still has a ****load of undesexed big bull breed dogs yet is banned in another state to even own a pet dog. He still flood the net, some mastiff/bull breed forum & pigging websites with his amazing pups.
So reporting people really can be quite useless but yes I did report him but so did over a dozen other people.
It took 3 yrs of reports & getting others to report to get anyone to even visit his yard though, no joke.

I was there for a reason & it was an ongoing investagation.
The dog was dead so not much I could do & it was no longer in any pain which if anything was a blessing given the state of his yards.
I did do something I took photos which where used to convict him.

Call me a sceptic (i don't mind) but why did it take 9 pages on this topic for you to enlighten us with such a story. i know if i had been around greyhounds in those conditions and experienced something like that it probably would have been one of the first things i posted.
Similar to your other post about the dog being shot by police, if it hit such a chord why wouldnt you explain it in the initial post, why does it take 3 pages before suddenly "it happened to you".
You must associate with some wonderful people.
