    Hey Jucealala.

    Awsome stuff he's been found.

What's the role of the "the lost dogs home"? Are they a local goverment authority?

Just curious how things work your way.

Such a happy ending! That's great news!

Rosie never ever has her collar on in the yard, ever. She is also chipped (twice!), so she has that insurance, but still...

She got out one day when we were in Croydon (we were renting and the mower man left the bloody gate open - fool), and instead of going wanders, she sat on the porch for us and waited for someone to come home! Couldn't believe my luck... needless to say, padlock went on the gate that night!

I think bars or screens for your windows are a fabulous idea, and very cheap insurance against any repeat escape tactics!

YAY!!! Awesome news, I'm so happy for you. I got butterflies in my tummy opening this thread, actually. Yay yay!

I'm not 100% sure of their exact, defined role, but they act in concert with LGAs. Most LGAs (if not all, maybe not those with their own pounds?) take their dogs to the Lost Dogs Home each night where they are kept for a certain amount of time before they're put up for adoption etc. Unfortunately they have quite hefty fees for releasing dogs back to you, even if they're microchipped, which has the terrible consequence that if people are unable to pay the fee, they can't take their dog back.

Yeah we're thrilled. The windows already had screens, he's snuck out three times without damage but this time he snapped it in half.

The fee's aren't bad to reclaim the dog. $22 a night, I think $20 if it's a weeknight. That covers them collecting him from the street, housing and feeding, and I'd happily pay double that to know he was safe.

Thanks for all the well-wishes, I'm glad I could post with a happy outcome

God really?? Our Rudy wasn't even in there for a night and mum had to pay $400-odd or something to get him back!
