Well today we did a peaceful protest at ACA breeders in Wantirna, then we did a surprise, peaceful protest at Pets Parasite Knox. There were just over 100 of us and we handed out 1000 leaflets. After about an hour we got asked to leave or be arrested.

    be arrested for what?

And what was in the leaflets? I've been thinking of occasionally handing them out in my shopping centres.

I was wondering that too. The main reason I haven't put much effort into organising a peaceful protest is the issue of being banned from the centre (which would result in my being unable to go to work and losing my job). NSW expects individual people to organise an entire protest, regardless of experience, and the problem with that is if someone does something wrong then it reflects on the entire group of Oscar's Law supporters. I wouldn't want my inexperience with protesting to result in every Westfield flat out banning anyone wearing an Oscar's Law t-shirt.

All protests are organised by the Oscar's Law committee. We have to abide by the rules and work with the police, which Oscar's Law do. The committee were talking to center management whilst we were there, then we were asked to leave.

    All info Oscar's law

    leaflet details here Oscar's law

Because it was a last minute decision they knew we would be asked to leave at some point in which we did. Usually these are organized in advanced and center management are made aware. Pet shops and shopping centers are reading FB and Oscar's Law website, no secrets.

We only wear our OL t Shirts on these occasions, and sometimes when we are walking the dogs.

No harm done and lots of people educated.

I only signed up the newsletter last week. found out about this from another forum. do they email details of these events? I would definitely be up for participating and showing support...I can't believe people are allowed to keep animals in these kinds of conditions...

It's terribly sad & actully more comman than you'd care to know.
I have seen little Shih Tzu's with missing eyes & fur so matted they could not walk. Puppy birthing pens with dead pups left amongst the litter & the bitch in terrible condition.
The bitches get breed every single haet from their first heat untill they can no longer produce & they are then killed. The pups are a wreak & generally are very hard to tolite train & have little drive to please a human & many already have habits like spinning from boredom & confinment. Some come good arfter much care some don't.
This is why I hate breeding as a form of income as the dogs become objects & the almighty dollar rules every decision about care of the dogs.
I do worry what these new rules will be all about though & that if we could start policing the rules we already have it would be a start. Many people have breed dogs for generations with much care & compassion but are not into shows & pure breeds & I hope those that can prove their respondsable with their breeding programes & follow up care will be allowed to continue. But any of the bulk breeders that chase the money & show breeders who don't follow the rules & all that abandon thier pups once sold will be stopped. But I doubt thats what will happen as things never are that easy & generally their will be mistakes along the way. Who knows how it will al end up but I do in my own naive way want change for those dogs at nearly any cost.
    Dogs make everyday life enjoyable...........
