Thread: Why You Love Your Chosen Breed.

I love Rottweilers because they are extremely intelligent, stubborn, independent, self assured, mischeavous and very affectionate.

Because of all the above traits, they are entertaining to say the least. They are constantly trying to get away with things when they're young, but are one of the most obedient breeds around when spoken to in a calm voice.

When raised correctly they are very calm around other dogs and good with children.

Oh and they like to sit on your lap, lay across your body when you're sleeping and give heaps of kisses.

I love Kelpies because they are extremely loyal, outgoing, energetic, and sooo intelligent!
i also love their almost Dingoish look!
And Aussies, well i love them because they are very VERY eager to please, friendly, loving, energetic and protective of the people they love!

There are a few reasons why I love my poodles.
Coming from a show perspective it's an extra challenge. You have to not only have an excellent dog, you have to have the skill to groom it as well. If you go in the show ring with a dog that looks like it has been scissored with a knife and fork it isn't going to do well.

I also love their personalities. They are happy and energetic without being over the top (the miniatures anyway).
They are happy to have a lazy day on the couch with us, but take a ball to the park and they turn into Greyhound wannabes!

The fact that they are smart is a blessing and a curse. Brody isn't the brightest crayon in the box, but he still picks up on tricks very quickly.
Prada on the other hand is the smartest dog I have ever met, and it's terrible. I used to think she had bad hearing, now I realise that she just knows that if she doesn't come when called at the park it means she gets to stay out longer.

I also find it amusing that a lot of guys really dislike them. If they weren't fluffy they would be just like any other dog really. Plus they were bred to hunt, not exactly a girly job!

I love ACDS because they bond so tightly with their person. Mine have only ever had eyes for me. They would protect you with their life and they are very easy to train. They also have quirky personalities and are very good lateral thinkers. I like their energy and their sheer toughness and determination.

I love my other herding breeds too but the ACDS are the ones that make me laugh. They welcome me the most vigourously when I return home while the others are more intent on rushing out the gate into the paddock, the ACDS are showering me with kisses and wanting my hand on them.

Hi I am new but had to post here....

Labs are my favorite..... the way they look at you, the total devotion in their eyes, so easy to train because of their need to please. The boundless energy and sleepy snores. They are hugely intellegent but can come across dumb. The fact they will love everyone, there is not a bad bone in their body, but they will show when they dont trust someone. They are protective in a non agressive way ( ours always have been).

And the things I miss about my lab, her stinky feet, her cool odourless breath on my pillow, her waking me snoring in the middle of the night, the way she looked at me as though she couldnt breath without me and would choose not to if I was gone. The way she played, she was such a boofa, she would run so fast she simply couldnt stop in time and you would have to get out of her way. And her cuddles, I miss her big fat heavy head sending my legs to sleep...

My GSD very loyal loved me and my husband and would not take food from strangers.

My Rottie was so calm and why worry about things you can't change sort of dog!

My Blue Heeler loved me so much and would follow me everywhere a bit like my GSD.

My lab/kelpie when not excited the nicest natured dog I have even known.

My staffy cross loves all the family and if someone has been away will greet them the longest then say hello to the rest of the family.

ACD's because I admire and adore their tenacity and unconditional love for their family. They are loyal, protective and crazy buggers but I could'nt imagine living without one by my side. Ridiculously intelligent.

Staffordshire bull terriers for their spirit, silly personalities and and love for a cuddle. I love that they are generally bomb proof around children and with proper socialisation play like maniacs with other dogs. I love that they follow you around like a shadow and never fail to make you laugh out loud right when you need it!! And who can resist staffy talk???

Rottweilers for their silly nature and love for their family. They love to play just as much as draping themselves accross your lap for a scratch. Loyal, protective and greatly misunderstood. Stunning dogs that seem to be so intune with their owners feelings. Always by your side when you need a cuddle or someone to have a cry with. very intelligent with playful sneaky side!!

Dobes, because they are absolute clowns! Because they're smart and loyal. Because they are snuggle bugs. Because they're energetic and brave and willing to have a go at anything. Because they bond closely with their family and are willing to protect their loved ones. Because I love to look into those gentle brown eyes and because they're so interactive. Because they're so often misunderstood.

But mostly because they're so darn goofy.

Lab lover here too! Everything you said is so true! Suzie loves to rest her head on our chest as we lay down, just like a little baby Labradors give the best cuddles cause they're so big and warm and fuzzy. Every single Labrador i've met has been so friendly and adorable. I love how they prefer to be around other people than other dogs. And let's not forget the cute way that they perk up their ears to look adorable when there's food around.

Suzie follows us like a shadow. If we go to bed and she's still inside, she'll sleep right next to our door. They're people dogs, if you don't spend much time with your dog then you'll have a very sad (and naughty) Labrador, but if you want a best friend that always wants to be with you, then a Labrador is for you. I love our Labs
