hehe - nothing bad - just a technique I have learned. Get all the info, digest, regurgitate and see if it is the way it was presented.

Okey dokey class...are we all seated? Yes? Shall we begin?

    Now in light of our delightful Occy giving me a teeny heads up that her evil widdle cogs are already a spinning ...I have gone a little backwards before forwards ; just to highlight this question ;

If pits are BYB why have I only in the last few years heard of amstaffs?

Well to be honest I truley don't know?
Perhaps you have the mushroom next door to mine, tis ok,I understand sweets

*really just buying some time trying to develop a counter attack for whatever it is you have planned for me mwahahah*

No seriously , in which way are you terming the question to me? As the Amstaff has been around ( in essence) since the 1930's.
I find it difficult to believe you have only heard of them in the last few years?

Again , Pits ( APBT) are not BYB . Well in correct terminology I guess yes here in Australia yes that would be a correct term to puritans out there as they are not recognised by the ANKC , but then this raises the issues of the ANKC / UKC dynamics. But then perhaps they're just being cohesive with the AKC who also did not recognise the APBT as a breed , hence the main point of the Amstaff actualy being born .Again, nutshell version, they couldn't Register them as 'Pit Bulls' but wanted them bred to standard. And so,we have the American Staffordshire Terrier.

Back in the 1890's Bennet started the UKC as the AKC didn't want anything to do with the 'APBT', 10 years on and McCord ( a friend of Colby) started the ADBA , now the ADBA only registers APBT .
Now fast forward to around 1936 and suddenly the AKC wants to join in as this dog known as the APBT is suddenly a very popular dog. So they conceded to registering them as Staffordshire Terriers. Fast forawrd again to the 1970's and American was added to it to differentiate it from the smaller,'little bricks' being bred in England .
At the time of all these Registeries though, they were still primarily, the same dog under different recognised names..

argh! * must get thought train in tune with words in touch with fingers*

And in fact,Natty you are on the right train of thought again.
With the introduction of BSL came the sudden increase in 'Pits' being called unpapered Amstaffs. Which is still very correct but potentialy damaging to the Amstaff here in Australia.
Also, many, many true blue idiots breeding badly bred Pits and flogging them off as Amstaffs as Amstaffs are 'safe' has angered many Registered breeders, rightly so , but I do not believe should be to the point of dissasociating the two.
    Which brings us back to.....

The Amstaff is simply a papered Pit Bull .
    Without the APBT,no Amstaff.

    Circles much
    Confoozled yet

History class shall resume tomorow around 12 pm QLD time

edited to add ; Is it any wonder Mischief left it to me ........you shall keep S...you shall keep mwahahahaha

lol Choppa i see the hairy questions are starting to be raised...

*sits back and kicks her feet up* Awwww so pleasant to watch someone else doing all the hard yards for once i should really give this whole " not getting into it" reply more often, its doing wonders for my inner peace right now

you know full well the only reason ppl arent openly skinning each other alive right now is because you dont have a forum full of AST and APBT ppl hahahaha

Phoenix is digging around in her whelping box she has a few days to go ( if her belly can hold out ) i might start a new topic for her and put in a preggers pic then i can update it with puppy pics too

    ooh-KAY!

So do I have this correct *straps on kevlar suit*

Amstaffs came from the original Pitbull breed of dog. Pits were not a recognised breed (probably because of what they were used for rather than anything else?) and then they decided to register them as Amstaffs in the US.

So Amstaff has been a breed since the 1930's because they could be registered and pits have their own register

An amstaff is a pitty is an amstaff is a pitty!

    So there is NO difference.

Now the big question that everyone will be head buried in sand about!

If pits are banned, where aren't amstaffs?

    *cough*

    I DO NOT SUPPORT BSL

    Dunna be ruining my 'glow'

Although silly or suicidal? me decided I needed to clarify a couple of things on OzPits so raised the dragons ugly head once again.
    You know?
I still have time.....I may just go and delete it

Am feeling a tad *blerk* today so shall just leave as is for now until more is asked .
