Default Took the Dogs Out for a Bike Ride Last Night

and it was one accident after another LOL.

Usually the OH and the Barney take the lead (they are fastest) and then our daughter and then Pippi and I bring up the rear.

Well the OH thought it might be nice to try the other way round for a change.

So, first off, I peddle off down the driveway which has a slope and found out the right hand brake lever is no longer connected to the brakes and had to kind of skew around to th side to stop. So, i decided to run Pippi on my right so I could use the left brakes. She is not used ot it and neither am I.

Anyway, a few houses down we had the hang of it and off we went.

Round the corner, daughter brakes suddenly and the OH and Barney are coming quickly up the rear he slams his brakes on and goes over the top of the handle bars...Barney kept running like he didn't even realise he wasnt being held to anything anymore LOL.

Then, we get down to this path through a park and Pippi decides to attempt to cross in front of me (I musta let the lead out a bit without realising) and luckily I was watching and I broke and stopped just as my tyre touched her wee butt.

The ride was fairly uneventful for a while but on the return trip home I noticed my right leg was peddling a bit funny. I look down and my track pants had started twisting round the pedal bar. No sooner had I looked that it twisted too much and what happened? I fell off my bike to the right, flat on my back with my legs in the air on a bit of a main road at the end of my street. Luckily Pippi had been running slightly ahead else I woulda squashed her.

We eventually made it home in one piece but the OH and I both has some scrapes from our adventurous wee ride LOL.

Apart from maybe the first time we went out on the bikes with the dogs (ages and ages ago) the ride usually goes perfectly.

Anyway, get home and Pippi starts staring at her lead like "I wanna go again"...cheeky tart LOL

Hyacinth, I am really not worried about cops tbh. If they want to fine me for taking my dogs for a blat then whatever.

LOL choppa, I was going to take the video camera as well because Pippi is so hilarious on bike rides. Thank god I didn't coz I probably would have broken it lol

Sorry, I'm going to be a real wet blanket.

Dogs and cyclists can and have been seriously hurt doing this kind of thing.

They made it illegal in 1999. Australian Road Rules.

So, is it ok to use this forum to promote an illegal activity?

I dunno if they will fine you or try to give you demerit points or both or take you to court - it depends on how your state has enacted the rules/law.

I wasn't aware that it was illegal! Seems a tad....over the top to be honest? Is this nation wide or state by state.

Actualy ,I should go look it up myself
I will have to say though,I have seen many dogs out on a bike ride with thier owners and this isnt an overly large town.

All it takes is a small distraction and poor dog has a broken leg, or worse.

It's illegal for good reason and people who ignore the rules ruin it for those responsible people.
Next we will see a law saying all dogs must be muzzled, then when people ignore that one it will be no dogs allowed on public streets.
