    Crazydog,
I was wondering whether all these poodle crosses actually have the advertised 'non shedding' coats because my Teddy (the Aust terrier x min poodle) was so strange....his four legs, two ears and head was poodle, non shedding wool, and his whole body had this rough, thick, double coat of fur!! You could distinctly see where poodle started and stopped.

He was the weirdest dog as well NEVER barked, NEVER dug holes, NEVER wagged his tail. I am seeing all these dog like behaviours from Lucy and its a whole new experience again Sadly Teddy was bought from a Pet Shop sold as a Toodle 5 yrs ago and died just before christmas from epilepsy. I didnt know anything about pet shops etc when I got him but was told by the assistant that he was from a litter of pups that the shop owner had the parents....now I really wonder if he was a farm boy after all, considering all his health problems and early death

I didnt want to make this a poodle cross argument, so I am sorry if anyone has flamed you...I just shared my experience from yesterday with my new girl Lucy. I love her so much, she is a treasure

Yes no worries I know what you mean about being defensive with the puppy farming stuff & wanting her known as a pure, I just wanted to point out not all poodle x breeders are bad.
Heaps of 1st generation x poodles don't have a poodle coat & should not be advertised as such. Even poodles shed it just knots up in the hair & is easier on allergies due to it's more hair like stuture & not living it all over the house as much. Allergy free they are not even pure poodles as some are allergic to more than just the hair shaft.
I lot of petshop poodle x's would be lucky to be 30% Poodle from what I've seen also.
But any 1 off cross is a luckydip & you can get a real mix of coat types.
Sorry if you thought I was upset with you as I didn't mean it that way.

For the poster with the xbreed that I thought was a pig dog xbreed, here are some pics of the type of dogs that I think would be in his family tree.

crazydog, you have probably mentioned this somewhere but do you test for PRA?
That will let us know if you are the 98% of bad x-bred breeders or the 2% of good ones.

I think it's pretty well known that I am against any form of cross breeding but if it's done properly then I can't kick and scream, only object a little lol

Yep sure do, I tested for PRA before the big pure breeders did.
I have no problem with everyone having there own opinions.
I am not for any puppy farming or bulk breeding.
I hate false advertising of any breeds or xbreeds.
I don't contribute to pound numbers & actully rehome a number of strays a year.
I think it's across the board as far as 98% bad & 2% good breeders go & thats all I have really been trying to say is there are good & bad breeders in everybreed & x breeding programes.

No flaming from here based on your posts and from what you've stated since joining. Plus not to mention I'd be quite the hypocrite considering my breed isn't recognised here in Australia ( but thats only by the ANKC and I have long since given up believing them to be gospel)

etied to add -though this does little for my disdain for nothing more then sheer peddlars and that goes both Registered and Backyard.

Thanks choppa, I'm with you about growing disdain for puppy peddlers of all kinds. Here I have added a link to 1 of the worst x breed puppy peddlers I have ever come across.

& check out some stories about this putrid man here

I have rehabbed one of this vile mans dogs that he had sold some poor 1/2 backward farmboy & it was a very sad story indeed.

Thanks crazydog, so you are in the 2%.

I have a bunch more question... mostly "why" but I will save that for another thread or in private.

I agree there are good and bad breeders no matter what you are talking about. Heck I know some god awful registered breeders but I also know some really good ones.
