I didn't realize the gene pool was that small, knew it was limited but had no idea how badly.
Do you think the Neo reg bodies will ever introduce totally new blood to try & over come this? The guy my ex bought our plainer bitch showed me some dogs that he had breed back up after introducing some new blood(he would only tell me he used some mastiff blood not sure which mastiff breed & bull blood again would not say which bull breed) & they really where great looking dogs not quiet right head wise but ver close. That was 10yrs ago this line of dogs could now be very easily mistaken as plain but pure Neo's. He markets them as his own working Neo breed & advertizes that he did introduce new blood a decade ago. I will try & get some pics to show you, they really are great looking Neo's & he & his puppy buyers are having at least 70% less health issues with his own line compared to his pappered dogs.
Good luck with your programme, it's so encoraging to hear that you will but health over type & that you have put so much thought into getting your lines as unrelated as possible.

The Leonberger dog - had only five left after WWI and only eight after WWII so all Leonbergers trace back to this.

I don't know if they've outcrossed with Newfies or St Bernards since, to increase the gene pool.

I do know that somes accidental outcrosses get called purebred. Jack-Whippet anyone? How come your dog always wins the coursing, and he's got very long legs for a JRT...

Would you consider TEMPORARILY housing an adult groodle on death row and due to die, in 1 or 2 days, in Toowoomba?

Sorry. I jumped in, too, over the groodle. Getting desperate.
