Thread: Poodle Colours??????

  1. #1

    Default Poodle Colours??????

I have seen some stunning poodles that are not able to gain reg in Aus due to their colour & think it's a shame. I know die hard Poodles breeders we hate me for this but I really like the parti colours & tuxedo is too cute. I have attched some pics & added a link with all different coloured poodles.

Oh & I also like how Euro has 4 sizes. A Moyan is perfect for agility.

There is a most enormous thread in that other forum that people have linked up all sorts of disqualified dogs ie dogs that don't meet their breed standards. It's quite interesting but overwhelming.

    Where's my vomit emoticon...

I know someone who breeds solely on color because they sell better... she couldn't give a rats what the dogs are like under the fur, as long as they are the right color.

Reputable breeders breed to the breed standard and those colors are disqualified so no good breeders will breed them.
There can't be 'accidents' with colors like that because with poodles the color genetics are pretty easy to work out.

Those colors can be shown in the USA but not in regular conformation shows.

    Sorry, I guess I'm a dog racist.

You may be, lol............. I don't beleive colour should be number 1 choise in any breed & think if they can come that way without crossbreeding why not?

What I am trying to say is if it has no health concerns why not they are not white & deaf or anything(not that I dislike white dogs as I have Maremmas) & no other breed influance I love dogs of many colours.

Thanks alot I have spent hrs on dogzonline reading, lol. I hate this if it dose not fit the standard cull it atitdude. Unless it has health issues that come with a colour why not have dogs of all colours.

Ive yet to see colour actually change the BREED of the dog. If its a poodle by pedigree then its still a poodle even if its purple.

Anyone got a good reason for the colour/marking restrictions?

Except where health is a genuine concern, no, put it down to breeding for colour in reverse, the dogs naturally come in those colours but are not allowed to, ........breeding for colour, the allowed colours chosen by some long forgotten biggot.

I like parti poodles, if I were to but one that is what I would by.

I hate the excuse well I don't want anyone else to breed on with a mismarked dog so we cull at birth. Get real keep pup till you can desex & then sell the pup if your that worried about mismarked dogs being bred on under your kennel name.
