    Default Dogs and the Rain....

Most of you probably know about queensland and all the flooding. Just wonder what people do to keep the mud out of the house? We've been using a damp towel to wipe Isaacs feet

we have had alot of rain here also & we just put large towels @ the door & wipe any paws that are really bad. That said mine are spending alot of time inside & have been walking them on the roads to try & keep them as clean as possible.

For really muddy feet, I bathe in a bucket of soapy water (just the feet) and towel off. Have been doing it since they were babies, though, so they're used to it. I tend to keep them restricted to the concrete/ gravel areas of the yard as much as possible (saves my grass, too) and walk in the roads/ footpaths. Used to wash little feet in the laundry tub til they got too big to lift in.

Am also planning to be rid of all the carpets in the house for vinyl tiles- easier to mop each day....

Yeah most of our house is carpet, this morning we had a trail for mud across the lounge room. Cleaned it up to only have more mud on it an hour later. Mum and I try to keep him away from the mud, but he always somehow gets mud all over his feet.

Oh! I forgot to mention; I have cordoned off a space inside the door using a playpen, so they come in, wash off feet, towel dry, stay there 15 or so mins, then come in. Saves big, muddy feet bounding in on the carpet!

I've been using a bucket of water just outside the door. "Wait - wash feet", then I try to towel her almost dry. We've had so much rain that the yard is almost pure mud. I try to walk her on the roadway, but most of the "good smells" are in the grassed areas.

Rain.... I am so sick of it and so are the pups..
It is raining as I type....

Anyway, My pups have 24hr free access between the house and yard via the laundry.
Upon entering, they walk along a special mat that removes most of the dirt from their feet.. Inside the house is all Lino Flooring that is easy to just wipe over as required.
The dogs are just spending nearly all their time inside ( moreso than usual ) and only go out for the call of nature atm...

It is just lucky that they are JS and have the teflon coat characteristics so their fur is clean as soon as it drys off !!

    Love My Puppies !!!

Perhaps something like a kitty litter tray or flat pan with soapy water in it right inside the doorway.
Make sure it's blocking the door so the dog has to walk through it and wash the mud off without you having to do it for them.

No idea if that would work or not, some dogs would probably just jump over it but it's worth a shot.

LOL....Have newfs, during all the rain we had here had three newfs and one large dog. So glad we do not have carpet and only rugs. We have large verandah's (enclosed) the dogs, stay on one of them and we towel dry their feet/bodies. Annabelle lift's her feet one at the time, for toweling, she knows...We use a lot of towels when it rains
